BUCKLE UP FOR SAFETY!

Keeping our youngest passengers safe is a team effort!

The Kings Mountain Police Department is proud to partner with Safe Kids Cleveland County and some of our local elementary schools to provide seat belt and booster seat safety demonstrations for students and families during afternoon pickup.

Bethware Elementary and West Elementary have partnered with us to kick off this important safety initiative. As students are getting into their vehicles after school, our team is helping families learn more about proper seat belt use, booster seat safety, and the simple steps that can make a big difference in protecting children on the road.

Thanks to our partnership with Safe Kids Cleveland County, families will also receive helpful safety information and resources. In the coming weeks, we plan to rotate these demonstrations among all of our elementary schools, allowing us to reach even more students and families throughout our community.

A special shoutout goes to our School Resource Officers (SROs), who have done the legwork behind the scenes to coordinate with our schools and help make this initiative possible. Their commitment to our students extends far beyond the school day, and we appreciate their continued dedication to keeping Kings Mountain's children safe.

Today, the Kings Mountain Police Department had the honor of hosting the scheduled Safe Kids Cleveland County meeting in our training room.

Safe Kids Cleveland County is a nonprofit coalition comprised of more than 60 community agencies working together with a shared mission: to reduce death and injury among children and youth through education, outreach, advocacy, and community partnerships.

The coalition brings together dedicated organizations throughout Cleveland County, including the Kings Mountain Police Department, Kings Mountain Fire Department, Shelby Police Department, Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office, Shelby Fire and Rescue, North Carolina State Highway Patrol (Cleveland County, Cleveland County EMS, Cleveland County Health Department, and many other community partners. Their continued collaboration plays an important role in providing safety education, injury-prevention resources, and outreach opportunities for children and families across our community.

Safe Kids Cleveland County is supported by the Healthcare Foundation of Cleveland County. We are grateful for the opportunity to host today's meeting and proud to partner with the many agencies and organizations committed to keeping our children and families safe.

What an incredible evening! Despite the rain throughout the day, the weather held off just in time, allowing our community to come together for a successful National Night Out.

We captured moments throughout the evening that we'd love to share with you. Due to the large number of photos, this recap will be shared in three parts, so be sure to watch for Part Two and Part Three coming soon.

A special thank you goes out to every City official, department, public safety agency, church, sponsor, volunteer, and community partner whose time, dedication, and support helped make this event such a tremendous success. Most importantly, thank you to all of the families and citizens who came out to spend the evening with us. Your participation is what makes National Night Out such a meaningful opportunity to strengthen the partnership between our community and those who serve it.
