We WILL be having "The Luncheon" this Wednesday (9/16). As always, we will be at Mom's Place and we start at twelve o'clock. We are getting close to the election, so bring a friend. I hope to see you there!!

This afternoon Pam and I were invited to the Carolina Improvement Association Festival and their "Wall of Fame" Memorial celebration at the ball field in Carolina. After the dedication of a beautiful memorial wall by Trudy Ice, it was my honor and pleasure, along with Marion County Commissioner Ernie VanGilder, to present Terry Ice, an officer of the association, with a Legislative Economic Development Assistance (LEDA) check from the West Virginia Legislature and Governor Morrisey in the amount of $6500. The funds will be used for repairs to snow removal equipment and for street abrasives for the upcoming winter weather. The people were wonderful to us and there was a huge turnout of folks who once lived there or are currently living in Carolina. This well planned get together was exemplary of what a small town means to the good people of West Virginia and their loved ones!! I wish them nothing but continued blessings and prosperity!

This evening it was my pleasure to help with one of our local volunteer fire departments. Former delegate Mike DeVault had earlier applied for assistance for the Winfield Volunteer Fire Department from the Legislative Economic Development Assistance (LEDA) program when he was in office. When Delegate DeVault stepped down, it became an honor for Mike Oliverio and I to complete the transaction. Tonight, along with former delegate Mike DeVault and County Commissioner Ernie VanGilder, I was honored to present the Winfield Volunteer Fire Department Chief, Jim Martin a check for $10,000 to purchase ten new SCBA tanks for the department. (Mike Oliverio couldn't be there tonight. He was at an important business summit in southern West Virginia). These volunteer firemen and ladies do outstanding work in saving lives and homes. They deserve our absolute support in every way possible. Hats off to Mike DeVault, Ernie VanGilder, and the entire Winfield Fire Department for allowing me to be part of this memorable occasion.
