Carole Young for KUSD 20 School Board As a candidate for KUSD 20 School Board, my focus will be on child educational development and Safety.

A child's educational development should fit the need of the child, not a system. Whether it be challenging, rigorous, excelled, vocational or special needs, each parent and child should have the choice and opportunity for individual achievement and success. Every child should feel safe in any educational facility in Kingman. I would like to see a joint effort with KUSD #20 and the City of Kingman

Public Safety departments to develop a joint, (detailed Safety Plan with KPD) and a (Triage plan with KFD). There is a sustainable plan in place, but I feel it should be expanded with ongoing training. With a shortage of resource officers in the schools, I believe this is a necessity. My experience in budget preparation, strategic planning and goal setting will facilitate my transition on the team to establish goals that will be receptive to the community and their vision for the future of youth educational development and success. One of the most important duties I will face is to advocate for the students. I realize that any decision that I make will affect their well-being, motivation and expectations of a quality education. I am focused on ensuring that each student has the opportunity to receive the best education available in our community.

One of the most important factors in educational success is reading.

It is not just up to the schools to ensure that a student is proficient in reading, it is also a parents responsibility to identify if their child needs assistance. Some children need additional tutoring. Many teachers in Kingman devote their own time to tutor children, Foster Grandparents assist in the schools and the Boys & Girls Club in Kingman is starting a reading program. Parents, if you are unable to assist your child in this area, there is help.

I am doing a Cooking Show this morning on CATV 11 and will be discussing my platform for School Board. I believe K-12 should be getting more than 42% of the State Budget and Parents need to get involved by going to www.azleg.gov and letting their Legislatures and Governor know their opinion.

• Served on United States Telephone Association committee for 911 Procedures & Administration
• Managed a team that engineered, designed, and implemented the first Internet service in Mohave County (CTAZ)
• Certification as a 1st Class engineer by the National Association of Radio & Telecommuncations Association
• Engineering certification from Northern Telecom & University of North Carolina
• Certifications in Business & Financial Management
• Certifications in Project Management & Strategic Planning
