What a great day! The 2nd Annual First Responder Kids Camp kicked off today with Rescue, EMS, and Emergency Management. This group of kids explored the rescue truck and equipment and learned how we extricate patients from vehicles.
Kingman Emergency Management came in and talked about the role of Emergency Management in a community all that he does for the various agencies and citizens.
Finally, we spent time with EMS learning what EMS is, how to join in on the fun, and learned a bunch of cool skills! Watch out you may soon see these kids hitting the street in an ambulance near you! 🚑
We are already planning how we can make next year bigger and better!
Tomorrow you can catch this awesome group at the Kingman Fire Department where they will explore the fire service, police, and dispatch!

Due to an instructor conflict, Kingman EMS will not be hosting a class this fall. As such, we will not have our fall class informational session this Thursday. We hope to host a class early-mid 2027. Thursday marks Save-A-Life Day during EMS Week 2026 — a reminder that saving a life takes a village. From dispatchers and first responders to bystanders and community members, every person plays an important role when an emergency happens.

When a medical emergency occurs, minutes matter. In cases of cardiac arrest, severe bleeding, choking, or other serious emergencies, the care provided in the first few minutes can make the difference between life and death. The reality is that family members, coworkers, friends, and bystanders will often arrive on scene before first responders. That means YOU can make an immediate impact while help is on the way.

Here in our community, we have seen firsthand how early action by bystanders can make a difference before EMS arrives. Whether it’s someone starting CPR, using an AED, or providing basic first aid, those first actions matter and can truly change outcomes. These moments remind us that emergency care starts long before the ambulance gets there.

Learning CPR and First Aid gives you the confidence and skills to step in during an emergency and help save a life before EMS arrives. Early action saves lives, and strong communities are built by people willing to help one another when it matters most.

At Kingman EMS, we are proud to offer CPR, First Aid, and AED certification courses through the American Red Cross. Classes can be delivered in person or in a blended format that combines online learning with hands-on skills practice. Today we recognize EMS for Children Day and the critical importance of specialized emergency care for our youngest patients.

Children are not just small adults — they have unique physiological and psychological needs that require specialized training, equipment, and compassionate care. EMS for Children Day highlights the importance of improving pediatric emergency care in both pre-hospital and acute care settings to ensure every child receives the best possible treatment during an emergency.

From calming frightened children and supporting families to providing age-appropriate medical interventions, EMS professionals play a vital role in protecting the health and safety of children in our communities every day.

Kingman EMS is proud to support continued pediatric education, preparedness, and advocacy to help improve outcomes for children in our communities. Recently providers have attend the KHC sponsored OB training preparing us for delivering our littlest patients and attended a Pediatric Symposium hosted by local and state EMS agencies and hospitals where providers discussed emergency treatment of pediatric patients. Thank you to all EMS professionals who work every day to provide calm, compassionate, and skilled care to children and families during emergencies.

Today is EMS Safety Day during EMS Week 2026 — a reminder that the safety of our providers is just as important as the care they deliver. 🚑💙

Every day, EMS professionals face unpredictable scenes, hazardous environments, heavy lifting, long hours, traffic dangers, and emotionally stressful situations — all while responding to emergencies and helping others in their greatest time of need.

Safety in EMS means:
✔️ Wearing proper protective equipment
✔️ Using safe lifting techniques
✔️ Practicing scene awareness
✔️ Prioritizing mental health and wellness
✔️ Looking out for one another on every call

When EMS providers stay safe, healthy, and supported, they are better able to continue serving their communities with skill, compassion, and professionalism.

We also want to thank our community for continuing to prioritize EMS safety by slowing down and moving over for emergency vehicles, supporting first responders, and helping create safer environments for both providers and patients. Your support makes a difference every single day.

In EMS, learning never stops. Every call, every training, and every continuing education class helps providers sharpen their skills and deliver the best possible care to their communities.

Continued education is critical in EMS because medicine is constantly evolving. New treatments, new equipment, and new research mean providers must stay prepared for whatever emergency comes next. Training keeps our crews confident, knowledgeable, and ready to respond when seconds matter most. Tomorrow providers will have training where we will walk through various scenarios and challenges.

Just as important is investing in the next generation of EMS professionals. Today’s students and new providers are tomorrow’s leaders, educators, and lifesavers. By mentoring, teaching, and supporting future EMS personnel, we help strengthen the future of emergency medical services for our entire community. Kingman EMS will be holding an information session for a fall EMT course on June 4th. We will talk about the upcoming class and answer any questions for those interested in learning more about EMS and how to get started.

On Thursday night at the comission meeting, with his family in attendance, we were able to recognize and promote Paramedic Jason Wegner to Deputy Chief. Deputy Chief Wegner has continuously shown his dedication to the service, his compassion and support for his fellow team members, and his desire to learn. We are grateful for his hard work and are excited to see him continue to grow and move the service forward in this new role. Congratulations Jason on this well deserved promotion!
