Thursday marks Save-A-Life Day during EMS Week 2026 โ a reminder that saving a life takes a village. From dispatchers and first responders to bystanders and community members, every person plays an important role when an emergency happens.
When a medical emergency occurs, minutes matter. In cases of cardiac arrest, severe bleeding, choking, or other serious emergencies, the care provided in the first few minutes can make the difference between life and death. The reality is that family members, coworkers, friends, and bystanders will often arrive on scene before first responders. That means YOU can make an immediate impact while help is on the way.
Here in our community, we have seen firsthand how early action by bystanders can make a difference before EMS arrives. Whether itโs someone starting CPR, using an AED, or providing basic first aid, those first actions matter and can truly change outcomes. These moments remind us that emergency care starts long before the ambulance gets there.
Learning CPR and First Aid gives you the confidence and skills to step in during an emergency and help save a life before EMS arrives. Early action saves lives, and strong communities are built by people willing to help one another when it matters most.
At Kingman EMS, we are proud to offer CPR, First Aid, and AED certification courses through the American Red Cross.
