🚧 Heads up, Kingman! 🚧

If you're heading up Hualapai Mountain Road on Friday morning (June 19), you may notice a slow-moving striping operation as crews install the permanent pavement markings over the recently completed chip seal project.
⏰ 7:00 a.m. to approximately noon

Traffic will remain open, but drivers may encounter a shadow vehicle and striping equipment moving slowly along the roadway for short periods of time.
Please slow down, stay alert, and give crews plenty of room to work safely.

Thanks for your patience as we put the finishing touches on these roadway improvements! 👍🚗🛣️

** Kingman Police Department Celebrates New Police Officer **

The Kingman Police Department is proud to welcome its newest police officer to the KPD family.

On Friday, June 5, 2026, in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, eight new Arizona Peace Officers were officially sworn in by the Honorable Judge John Crombach following the successful completion of the Western Arizona Law Enforcement Training Academy (WALETA).

Over the course of twenty-one weeks, academy recruits completed specialized law enforcement training focused on criminal law, patrol procedures, defensive tactics, fi****ms proficiency, emergency vehicle operations, ethics, and community policing.

During the graduation ceremony, Chief Rusty Cooper presented Kingman Police Department’s newest officer, Joseph Rice, with his official KPD shield, marking the beginning of his service to the Kingman community.

“We are proud to welcome Officer Rice to the Kingman Police Department team,” said Chief Cooper. “The commitment and dedication required to complete the academy is significant, and we look forward to supporting him as he begins his law enforcement career serving our community.”

Fatal Traffic Collision – W. Beale Street

On Monday, May 18, 2026, at approximately 10:48 a.m., Kingman Police responded to the 1100 block of W. Beale Street following reports of a three-vehicle collision.

The preliminary investigation indicates a semi-truck failed to stop for slowing traffic in a congested construction area, striking a sedan and pushing it into a second semi-truck stopped ahead.

The sedan occupants, a married couple from California, were both wearing seat belts. The 82-year-old male driver sustained serious injuries and was transported for medical treatment. The 78-year-old female passenger died as a result of the crash.

No obvious signs of impairment were observed. Speed and driver inattention are believed to be contributing factors. The investigation remains ongoing.

We extend our condolences to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic incident and remind motorists to slow down, stay alert, and expect sudden traffic changes in construction zones.

Traffic Update: W. Beale St. is now open in both directions.
