🔥 New 24/72 Schedule – Moving from a 24/48 schedule to a 24/72 schedule provides our firefighters with more time for rest, family, and life outside the firehouse while continuing to provide excellent service to our community.

💰 Special Separation Allowance – An additional benefit designed to recognize and support our firefighters as they reach retirement.

🇺🇸 REMEMBERING SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 🇺🇸

Today, we pause to remember the lives lost and the families forever changed by the events of September 11, 2001.

As we mark the 25th Anniversary of 9/11, we honor the nearly 3,000 people who lost their lives, the first responders who ran toward danger, and the countless individuals who showed courage, compassion, and strength in the days that followed.

Twenty-five years later, we remember. We honor. We will never forget.

Lowering U.S. and NC Flags to Half-Staff in Honor of
Patriot Day, A National Day of Service and Remembrance
From sunrise to sunset September 11

Governor Josh Stein ordered all U.S. and North Carolina flags at state facilities to remain at half-staff from sunrise to sunset on Friday, September 11, in tribute to Patriot Day also known as the National Day of Service and Remembrance. Gone but never forgotten, this years marks the 25th anniversary of 9/11, honoring the victims of the terrorist attack, their families and the heroic sacrifices of first responders.

Statement from Governor Stein
“On the 25th anniversary of 9/11, we remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives who were killed that day, hundreds of first responders who died because of their heroic efforts, and countless others whose lives were forever changed. Just as much as the horrific images from that day are seared in our minds, so are the heroes who responded.
“This year, during America’s 250th year, we cherish what it means to be an American: to love freedom, justice, security, democracy, and peace. Let us honor the memories of our heroes: the brave passengers of Flight 93, the firefighters who rushed toward danger as people ran for their lives, and the neighbors who helped their neighbors through unthinkable tragedy. And let us remember that there is more that unites than divides us. America is strongest when we stand together.”

📢 PUBLIC ANNOUNCEMENT

EVERYONE’S PLAYGROUND at Recreation Acres will be CLOSED from Wednesday, September 9 through Friday, September 11, 2026 for replacement of the playground matting.

The playground is expected to REOPEN on Saturday, September 12, 2026.

We appreciate your patience and understanding while we make these improvements to help keep Everyone’s Playground safe and accessible for our community. 💙
