"Last Friday was the day we'd been waiting for. We spent the morning resting on the ground, wondering when our moment would come. Then the crew showed up, hard hats went on, and suddenly we were flying high.

By the end of the day, we weren't just a pile of lumber anymore. We were part of something bigger... helping form the roof over what will soon be a family's home.

Not to brag, but we're pretty much the peak of progress around here."

There's more than one way to build homes, communities, and hope, and the volunteers at Habitat for Humanity of Stokes County show us that all year long.

Some spend their time at the ReStore, where they assist customers, stock shelves, and help display merchandise. Others work on a build site, and no construction experience is needed because we provide the tools and the guidance. Plenty of people help out at community events, and some serve in two or three areas depending on what their schedule allows.

Twenty-five years ago, the world changed, and the courage, resilience, and unity that followed reminded us of what we are capable of in our darkest moments.

On Patriot Day, we pause to honor the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to pay tribute to the first responders, volunteers, and everyday individuals who showed extraordinary strength when it mattered most.

We remember. We honor. We will never forget.

We had a great start to the day hosting Business Before Hours here at Habitat Stokes yesterday.

We loved welcoming fellow business and community partners, connecting, sharing ideas, building relationships, and simply enjoying good company.

The frame game is extra strong on the job site today, and it’s all thanks to the volunteers who showed up ready to level, lift, and laugh their way through framing day.

Every beam raised is a reminder that when our community comes together, we don’t just build walls — we build welcome. We don’t just square corners — we square away stability. And we don’t just nail boards — we nail hope right into place.

To our volunteers: thank you for donating your time, your sweat, and your willingness to hold a wall steady even when the wind tries to join the crew.

To our donors: your financial support is the reason these frames stand tall. You help us keep the mission measured, the materials ordered, and the momentum level — even when life throws us a curve that’s definitely not in the blueprint.

Today’s framing isn’t just construction… it’s community in action. It’s the first outline of a future home, sketched by generosity and strengthened by hands that care.

🚚💙 Habitat Stokes is growing again — in the best way!

We’re excited to introduce our two newest additions to the Habitat Stokes and Stokes ReStore fleet: Haul & Stokes — our "brand‑new to us" 16 ft. box trucks!

These trucks were made possible through the generous support of Stokes United, Habitat NC, and the AMAZING partnership of W. R. Vernon’s Produce Co. Because of this community‑powered teamwork, we’re able to expand our donation pickups, strengthen ReStore operations, and support our construction projects even more efficiently.

You’ll be seeing Haul & Stokes around Stokes County, helping us move the mission forward — one mile, one donation, and one family at a time.
