RA7: Final Day. 9/11/2026

Today marks the final day of Recruit Academy 7.

For months, our recruits have trained, learned, been challenged, and pushed themselves to prepare for career, dedicated to serving others. Tonight, they will officially complete that journey and graduate as King George County’s newest Firefighter/EMTs.

As we celebrate, their accomplishment, we also recognize the significance of September 11.

25 years ago today, 343 FDNY firefighters along with law-enforcement officers, EMS personnel, military members and civilians, lost their lives during the attacks of September 11, 2001. Their courage, sacrifice, and commitment to others continue to represent the very foundation of public service.

There is a special meaning in seeing a new generation of firefighters complete their academy on this day, beginning their careers with the same commitment to service, courage, and community that has defined the fire service for generations

Today we remember those who gave everything and tonight we celebrate those who have chosen to serve.

Never forget.

Congratulations to FF/EMT Caleb Bardine, Company 2 A Shift, on completing his Probationary Taskbook!
The Probationary Taskbook, often referred to as the "Probie Book," is an important milestone for our new Firefighter/EMTs. It requires probationary members to demonstrate proficiency in the skills, knowledge, and responsibilities expected of a King George Firefighter/EMT through documented training, hands-on evaluations, a comprehensive written exam, and practical skills testing.
Completing the taskbook takes months of training, preparation, and dedication both on and off shift. Pictured is FF/EMT Bardine earning his black helmet shield.

Congratulations to Firefighter/EMT Henderson, Company 3 A Shift, on completing his Engine operator packet!

This process covers vehicle operations in emergency and non-emergency situations, as well as maintenance and equipment.
This required the competent completion of:
- Driving miles
- Operating on calls for service
- Pump operations
- Drafting operations

Last week, Recruit Academy 7 started to wrap up the Academy with the following topics:
- Mental Health
- Ambulance Operator Packets
- Company Skill Competencies
- EMT-Basic Release Process
- Customer Service

On Wednesday, RA7 had their "Day in the Life." This day involved the recruits running multiple simulated incidents and experiencing life at the firehouse. This took place at the Rappahannock Regional Training Center. Great work, Recruits.

This coming week is the last week of Recruit Academy 7, and we are excited to see them graduate this Friday!

Last Saturday, King George Fire & Rescue had the privilege of gathering with our Volunteer Life Members for our annual appreciation breakfast.

These dedicated individuals have achieved Volunteer Life Membership status under the bylaws of King George Fire & Rescue, Inc., representing years of commitment and service to our department and our community.

On August 19, 2026, members of King George Fire & Rescue had the privilege of participating in the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber’s First Responders Appreciation Breakfast, an event dedicated to honoring the men and women who serve our communities and recognizing the profound impact of first responders.

This year’s celebration was especially meaningful for King George County, as several individuals and teams from our community were recognized for their courage, compassion, leadership, and lifesaving service.

These awards represent more than individual accomplishments. They reflect the courage, compassion, teamwork, and dedication that define the first responder community.

We are incredibly proud of each of these honorees and grateful for the countless ways they serve King George County and the surrounding region every day. His dedication, leadership, and willingness to serve have left a lasting legacy within King George County and the Fire & Rescue family.

RA7: Week 24 of 28

This past week, Recruit Academy 7 had an exciting week of clinical rotations. As part of the EMT-Basic program, the Recruits rotated time between the Emergency Room at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center and on Medic units with the Fredericksburg Fire Department and King George Fire, Rescue & Emergency Services.

The Recruits were able to interact with real patients and run real-world emergency calls operating under either released hospital staff when at the ER, and released Attendant in Charge (AIC) at the Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Life Support (ALS) levels. Just within King George County, the Recruits operated on 41 separate incidents.

This was a great opportunity for these recruits to see how real-world emergencies are handled.
