June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month. This month highlights the importance of protecting older adults from situations of abuse, neglect, and exploitation.

Elder abuse is a widespread issue: statistics show that 1 in 10 Americans aged 60 and above has experienced some form of elder abuse, and only an estimated 1 in 24 cases of elder abuse are reported to authorities.

Together, we can raise awareness and prevent elder abuse in our community.

If you or someone you know is in immediate danger, dial 911.
To report suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation in Oregon, call the Oregon Abuse Reporting SafeLine: Call 1-855-503-SAFE (7233)

May 10-16th marks National Police Week 2026.

In 1962, President John F. Kennedy declared by presidential proclamation the creation of National Police Week, including Peace Officers Memorial Day on May 15th.

The King City Police Department takes this time to recognize all of the officers who have given their lives in the line of duty, as well as those who continue to serve and protect our communities with dedication and courage.

A big thanks to City Councilor Sandy Cunningham for joining Lt. Sigler out on traffic detail last week!

Councilor Cunningham and Lt. Sigler hit almost every area of King City that has seen an uptick in speeding complaints, and worked several stop signs and four way stops.

Great work, you two!

It's going to get hot this weekend. Please check in on your friends, family and neighbors, especially those in vulnerable populations.

Staying hydrated and being mindful of overexertion in the heat is pivotal to staying safe when the weather is this hot this early in the year.

Remember, no call is too small. Call if you need us.

☀ Moderate Heat Risk Warning for Sunday, May 3rd, 2026 ☀

We have a stretch of warm weather coming up, with the US National Weather Service Portland Oregon warning of prolonged hot conditions this weekend, especially Sunday.

Weather like this poses significant public health concerns, especially for vulnerable populations who may experience heat-related stress and are at risk of heat exhaustion.

A reminder for everyone to stay hydrated and check on friends and neighbors.
