In 1891, Marie Owens was hired by the Chicago Police Department as the first ever policewoman. Women make up roughly 10-12% of the police workforce in the US.

We'd like to honor and celebrate women's vital role in public safety. Their dedication, strength, and leadership make a difference every day in keeping our community safe. Thank you for your service and for paving the way for future generations in law enforcement.

🚔 Ever wonder what really happens behind the badge?

The East Pikeland Township Police Department is excited to announce our 9th Citizens Police Academy!

Join us for an in-depth, behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement and public safety. Participants will meet directly with police officers and other public-safety professionals while taking part in presentations, demonstrations, tours, and hands-on activities—including:

• Fi****ms simulator• Bomb Squad presentation and demonstration• Visit to the 911 Communications Center• CPR certification• Stop the Bleed certification• And much more!

📅 Wednesdays, September 9 through November 11, 2026🕕 6:00–9:00 PM

Class locations vary depending on each week’s activity. The first class will be held at:

The Academy is primarily intended for participants 18 years of age or older. Limited exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis.

🚨 SCAM ALERT: XFINITY CUSTOMERS BEWARE! 🚨
A scam is currently targeting Xfinity customers with equipment that is five years old or older. Customers are receiving multiple texts and emails designed to look like they are from Xfinity, including messages from an email address labeled “Xfinity Assistant.”
The messages claim that Xfinity is updating fiber optic cables in the area and that an employee needs to come to your home to replace your Xfinity Gateway equipment. Customers are then directed to call a phone number that closely resembles Xfinity’s legitimate customer service number.
Once on the phone, the scammer may act like a real Xfinity representative by confirming your name, phone number, and service address. However, the major red flag is when they ask for bank account or credit card information—information you should never need to provide to schedule a legitimate Xfinity equipment replacement.
The scammers may even have some information about your Xfinity account or monthly bill to make the call seem legitimate. They may also ask you to provide financial information while signing a supposed consent form for the service and can become aggressive or confrontational when questioned.
Protect yourself:
• Do not provide bank or credit card information to an unsolicited caller.
• Do not assume a caller is legitimate because they know some of your account information.
• Be cautious of emails or texts directing you to call a specific number.
• If you receive a message about equipment replacement, contact Xfinity directly using an official customer service number or website to verify it.
When something doesn't feel right, trust your instincts. Hang up and verify before sharing any personal or financial information.

East Pikeland Township Police are reminding residents to be alert for Medicare scams. Scammers often target seniors by pretending to be representatives from Medicare, Social Security, insurance companies, or other government agencies.
Common warning signs include:
• An unexpected call asking for your Medicare number, Social Security number, bank information, or other personal information.
• Someone claiming you must pay a fee to receive or keep Medicare benefits.
• Offers of free medical equipment, services, or other benefits in exchange for your Medicare information.
• Threats that your Medicare benefits will be cancelled if you do not act immediately.
• Emails, texts, or websites that appear official but are designed to steal your information.
Remember: Medicare will not call you unexpectedly and ask for sensitive personal or financial information simply to keep your benefits active.
When in doubt, STOP. Don't provide any information, don't send money, and don't click on links. Contact Medicare directly using the number on your Medicare card or through the official Medicare website.
If you believe you have been the victim of a scam or attempted fraud, contact the East Pikeland Township Police Department and report it.
Please share this post with your parents, grandparents, friends, and neighbors. A few seconds of caution can prevent a costly mistake.

Touch-A-Truck is back on the calendar.

East Pikeland Township will not be hosting our usual National Night Out event this August. Instead, we invite the community to join us for our rescheduled Touch-A-Truck event on Saturday, September 12, 2026, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Kimberton Fire Company, 762 Pike Springs Road, Phoenixville.

Families can come out and explore police cars, fire trucks, public works vehicles, construction equipment, and more. We are also planning food trucks, interactive displays, and the Touch-A-Truck Explorer Pass game for kids.

A sensory-friendly quiet time will be held from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM, with no horns, sirens, or loud demonstrations during that time.

This is a free, family-friendly community event. We hope to see you there.
