It is with a very heavy heart that we inform everyone that our patriarch and pioneer member who started our department, Mr. Lester G. Curvin "LG", passed on June 30, 2026. LG completed the state charter for our department in 1982, since then there has been expansions to our station, multiple changes in apparatus, and at least 200 members if not more pass though our doors to serve our community. On behave of the entire Fenton Volunteer Fire Department, we offer our condolences to the Curvin family and thank Mr. LG for creating such a wonderful and necessary asset for the community and building it to what is has become. Rest easy brother. 🚒

Lester G. “LG” Curvin

April 29, 1944 – June 30, 2026

Lester G. “LG” Curvin, 82, of Kiln, Mississippi, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Tuesday, June 30, 2026

LG was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, firefighter, and public servant whose life was defined by his unwavering commitment to his family, his community, and the fire service.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lampkin and Gladys Parker Curvin; his son, Shannon Curvin; and his sister and brother-in-law, Carol and Bernard Ladner.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 63 years, Christine Moran Curvin. He is also survived by his children: Lester “George” Curvin II(Suzanne), Kyle “Brent” Curvin (Renee), Lance Paul Curvin (Angie), all of Kiln, Mississippi, and his honorary daughter, Teri Barber (Chris), of Valdosta, Georgia.

LG was a proud grandfather to Alexis Meranto (Kyle), Shanna Evans (Dylan), Allen Weaver, Morgan Hicks (Hunter), Rylan Curvin, Kadyn Barber, Aaron Barber, and Dylin Barber. He was also blessed with eleven great-grandchildren: Ricky Coulter, Ryleigh Meranto, Rowen Meranto, Tatum Evans, Eleanor Evans, Dylan Rose Evans, Parker Evans, Laten Evans, Bryson Weaver, BreAnnah Weaver, and Hayes Hicks. Each of them brought immeasurable joy to his life.

LG proudly served his country in the Air National Guard, retiring after a distinguished career that included serving as Fire Chief at the Gulfport Combat Readiness Training Center. Following his military retirement, he continued his lifelong dedication to public service as Fire Chief at Stennis Space Center for several years.

Firefighting was more than a career—it was LG’s calling. He played a vital role in establishing the Fenton Volunteer Fire Department. Through his leadership, dedication, and tireless work, he helped build the department from its inception and remained its backbone until his retirement. His commitment to protecting others and serving his community left a lasting legacy that will continue for generations.

Above all else, LG cherished his family. He was their strength, their protector, and their guiding example. His wisdom and steadfast love will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of service, integrity, and devotion will live on in the lives he touched.

Visitation will be held on Monday, July 6th at Most Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Pass Christian, beginning at 10:00 AM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, with interment to follow at St. Joseph Cemetery at Rotten Bayou.

The Curvin family extends their heartfelt gratitude to everyone for the prayers, love, kindness, and support shown during this difficult time.

His final alarm has sounded, but his legacy of courage, service, and devotion will continue to inspire all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Riemann Family Funeral Home, 9113 Kiln-Delisle Rd. Pass Christian, MS, is honored to serve the Curvin family.
