Conditions are drying out again following the recent light rainfall event. The combination of very low RH values and gusty winds will raise the threat for wildfires Tuesday.

We are still under a burn ban! Elevated risk today. If you see something call 911 to report anyone burning please.

WHAT IS NOT ALLOWED DURING A BURN BAN:

Anything with an open flame that produces embers is prohibited. Wind can carry embers up to a half mile away, starting new fires. This includes campfires, bonfires, fire pits, fire rings, burn barrels, debris burning, and field burning.

WHAT IS ALLOWED DURING A BURN BAN:
Propane or gas grills, propane heaters, and charcoal grills are allowed, but must be used properly, kept away from anything flammable, and never left unattended. Charcoal briquettes remain a concern - always allow coals to fully cool and dispose of them safely after use.

Even in areas not under an official burn ban, conditions remain dry enough for fires to spread quickly. Avoid outdoor burning and use extreme caution with anything that could spark a fire.

Last weekend's rainfall was simply not enough to make a meaningful dent in the drought. We will need a lot more consistent rainfall over time to truly reduce fire danger and begin to end these drought conditions.

The Burn Ban for Montgomery county is still in effect!!!🔥🚭🚨

04/02/2026

Even though rain is forecast for the weekend, it won’t be enough! Burn bans for Carroll and Montgomery Counties are still in place.

What is Allowed During a Burn Ban

Propane/Gas grills
Propane/Gas heaters
Charcoal grills
Use these items as described by their manufacturer, safely away from combustible materials, and never left unattended. Dispose of them properly after use.

Charcoal grill briquettes are of great concern. After use, always let the coals cool completely and douse in water before disposing of them in a metal container. The residual ash should be cold to the touch before disposal.

*Section 49-19-351 of MS Code of 1972, as amended.

Per the Montgomery County Board of Supervisors Montgomery County is under a Burn Ban Until Further Notice.

03/27/2026

Please no burning we do not want to be in the position like Carroll county. We are also in the same fire district as them under the forestry commission. If we had an incident, they would have to pull resources from them to help. There is limited resources everywhere.
