An interesting program coming up at the library!

Connecticut and the American Revolution ~ Tuesday, June 9th, 6:00pm-7:00pm. Though one of the smallest colonies, Connecticut played a vital role in the War for Independence 250 years ago. This presentation focuses on some of the most under-publicized and interesting people and events that contributed to securing our independence from England. For example, did you know that George Washington conceived of the Purple Heart Award and that he gave out only three of them—all to Connecticut soldiers, one of whom was an ancestor of Winston Churchill? Or that a Hessian POW in Connecticut named Hendrik Roddemore was the first person in America to begin the tradition of displaying a Christmas tree? This talk by Phil Devlin will last roughly 1 hour with time for audience questions. Please use the following link to reserve your seat: https://killingworthlibrary.libcal.com/event/16772955
