Tuesday Trivia ~ Tuesday, September 8th, 6:00pm-7:00pm. Teams will be competing for the title of Trivia Master and a gift certificate to the library book sale. We will be playing a Jeopardy-style game with five categories, and new topics every month. We have a limit of six teams, with up to four players each. This calendar event has six sign-up slots, so please make sure only one player from each team submits a registration; the rest of the team members can just show up. Combo Book Club Meeting ~ Thursday, September 17th, 6:30pm-7:30pm. Join both the Tuesday Book Discussion and the Mystery Book Club, as we discuss The God of the Woods by Liz Moore. Extra copies of the title are available at the circulation desk. The discussion will be held in the library's meeting room, and there will be light refreshments for this gathering. Less than a week to our Annual Book Sale ~ Saturday, September 12th, 9:00am-2:00pm. The sale will be held rain or shine, in the library's meeting room and in tents outside. If you would like to drop off donations, please bring them into the library during our open hours (don't use the book donation bin the in north parking lot ~ we don't have a key to that!). All proceeds from the sale benefit the Killingworth Library Association.

Update on the library's monarch chrysalis ~ we are proud to announce that a beautiful female monarch hatched this Saturday morning, between 11:00am and noon! Last seen, she was safely out of her enclosure but still tired from the move. This afternoon's sun most likely helped her warm up and stretch her wings. If you see her around town, please say hello!

Tweens Magic: the Gathering ~ Friday, September 4th, 5:00pm-6:00pm. Magic is the world's most popular trading card game, and it's a great way to reinforce math, reading, and critical thinking skills, as well as face-to-face, screen-free play. We will be learning the game from the ground up, so all levels of experience are welcome, including absolute beginners. Participants will not be required to purchase anything or bring their own cards to play. Our materials have been generously donated by the MagiKids nonprofit, and participants will build decks that they get to take home and keep. This program is recommended for ages 9+. Tweens Dungeons & Dragons ~ starts Saturday, September 12th at 9:00am. This group is open to both experienced dungeon-delvers and complete beginners; no need to bring anything other than your imagination. Dungeon Master Leo will be leading the adventure for fellow kids 8 - 12 (with library supervision). The club will be broken into six-week campaigns, with the group meeting every Saturday. This campaign runs from September 12th to October 17th. Minecraft Club for Tweens ~ Thursday, September 3rd, at 5:00pm. This program is geared towards tweens ages 9 - 12. Meet new friends, explore, slay monsters, and build a beautiful base in our very own survival world! For this program, we will be playing on Minecraft Bedrock Edition, available on Windows, iOS, and Android. The library has a limited number of devices with Minecraft installed. If you can bring your own laptop or tablet with Minecraft, we would highly appreciate it; this will help more kids sign up for the program. NOTE: If the program fills up and you want to join, please add your name to the waitlist. We will be checking the sign-ups to see how many players require library devices. Depending on how many we have available, we will pull in as many players from the waitlist as we can.
