***PRESS RELEASE***
Case #: 26KP000477
Date of Offense: March 18, 2026
Accused: Matthew Bradley, 40- Rutland
Offense(s): Resisting Arrest, Eluding Police, Negligent Operation, Theft of Services, Leaving the Scene of an Accident.
Shortly after noon on Wednesday March 18th, Killington Police were contacted by Rutland City Police to assist with locating Matthew Bradley, age 40 of Rutland, in regard to violating an Abuse Prevention Order and Conditions of Release. It was reported Bradley was at Killington Auto picking up his vehicle.
Killington Police located Bradley at the above location and upon speaking with him, tried to take him into custody. Bradley displayed furtive movements, actively resisted officers’ attempts to place him in custody by fighting with police and then fleeing on foot to a parked vehicle. As use of force escalated, Bradley was unresponsive to both TASER and pepper spray deployment. He then entered a vehicle, started it and drove off, crashed into a parked car and storage container, and by doing so, placed himself, officers and other motorists in further danger. Bradley was followed down Killington Road to Route 4 crossing several lanes of traffic, violating speed limits and various other motor vehicle violations, where he then travelled west toward Rutland. VSP assisted and deployed stop-sticks. As Bradley’s tires began to run flat, the pursuit of Bradley ended in Mendon. It was later learned Bradley had not paid the full amount that was owed to Killington Auto and intentionally shortchanged the merchant of their fees.
Bradley has been charged with Resisting Arrest, Eluding Police, Negligent Operation, Theft of Services, and Leaving the Scene of an Accident. He was transported to RRMC for medical evaluation by Regional Ambulance Service and turned over to Rutland City Police for further processing.
A court official was contacted and Bradley was ordered held at Marble Valley Regional Correctional Facility with several conditions of release and bail set at $5,000 dollars.
Bradley is due to be arraigned on these five charges in addition to the original charges stemming from Rutland City P.D.’s investigation on March 19th at 1230 pm.
