Meet Alyssa, our Public Services Coordinator at Hobby Memorial Library! 📚

Alyssa's journey at CTC has come full circle. She started here as a student herself, later earning her bachelor's degree in sociology from TAMUCT. Along the way, she worked part-time at the Harker Heights Public Library—an experience that inspired her to bring her passion for service back to CTC, where she's now spent 7 years as our Public Services Coordinator, helping run the front desks and supervising our student workers.

📚 40 years in this library and still going strong — meet our Technical Services Clerk, Kumi! 🎉

As our Technical Services Clerk, she catalogs books, manages periodicals, and keeps our library materials organized and accessible for everyone who walks through our doors. She also lends a hand in the Multimedia Lab and at the Information Desk, helping students and patrons find exactly what they need.

When asked what's kept her going for four decades, her answer says it all:

"I work where the books are… what could be better?"

We're so grateful for her dedication, knowledge, and the essential work she does every day to keep Hobby Memorial Library running smoothly. 📖✨

Please join us in welcoming Angela Dantzler, the new Technical Services Librarian at Hobby Memorial Library!

Angela's journey into librarianship is anything but ordinary. A native of Fort Hood, TX, she earned her degree in Psychology from Tarleton State University before pursuing a career in education. While teaching, she completed her MSEd in Educational Psychology at Texas A&M University-Central Texas — and then took her career overseas, spending three years teaching at George Washington Academy in Casablanca, Morocco.

It was during her time abroad that Angela discovered a true passion for literacy and reading, which set her on a new path. She returned to Texas and earned her Master of Library and Information Science from Texas Woman's University in 2022.

Since then, Angela has gained wide-ranging experience across the library world: as a school librarian with both Fort Worth ISD and Killeen ISD, a part-time reference librarian at Texas A&M University-Central Texas, and a full-time cataloging librarian for the City of Temple.

We're thrilled to welcome her passion, experience, and global perspective to Hobby Memorial Library. Come by and introduce yourself!

As we transition into intersession, the Oveta Culp Hobby Memorial Library will be operating on a temporary schedule from Aug 1 to Aug 16.

🕘 Intersession Library Hours:
Monday–Thursday: 7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
Friday: 7:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.
Saturday & Sunday: Closed

Whether you're wrapping up summer coursework, getting a head start on fall classes, or simply looking for a quiet place to study, we're here to help with research assistance, computers, printing, study spaces, and more.
