While we have thankfully gotten paid for our last 2 paychecks. It is not a guarantee that we will receive another one while the shutdown continues to drag on. With that said please read and share the below information.

● Soldiers can and should apply NOW for the special AER shutdown loans. If paychecks arrive, loans will not be issued, so there is zero downside to applying.

● Any families eligible for WIC or SNAP can apply for GRANTS to replace those funds through the same portal.

● If any soldiers have Haitian connections there are relief funds available for Hurricane Melissa victims.

⚠️ Shutdown Update: Day 29 for Military Families

💰 Pay & Allowances: While there is no publicly confirmed plan to guarantee military pay for the November 1 payday, several senior Administration officials — including the Vice President — have stated they believe troops will be paid this week. However, it remains unclear whether this will include all populations. Without additional details, we can’t yet determine how this will affect the broader community, but we will share updates as soon as more information becomes available. In the meantime, active-duty members across all services are expected to continue reporting for duty, even if pay is delayed. Reservists and Guard members may see drill cancellations or postponed orders until funding is restored. Federal civilian employees — many of whom work alongside military members every day — remain either furloughed or working without pay and have already missed at least one paycheck.

🏠 PCS Moves & Travel: Most Permanent Change of Station (PCS) moves and official travel remain paused, except for those deemed mission-essential (such as accessions, recruiting, or emergency relocations). If you are scheduled to move soon, contact your Transportation Office or Chain of Command for the latest guidance before making any arrangements. Training classes and temporary duty trips remain paused due to lack of FY26 funding.

👶 Childcare & Family Services: Many Child Development Centers (CDCs) and youth programs remain open, though some operate with reduced staff or deferred payments for families affected by delayed pay. Check with your installation’s CDC for details about your center’s policy and available support. Other morale, welfare, and recreation (MWR) programs may have reduced hours or suspended activities until normal operations resume. School-age programs previously closed are being reopened around installations with federal employees working in excepted status.

🧾 Financial Relief & Resources: Relief organizations remain active:
• Army Emergency Relief (AER) – accepting shutdown loan applications.
• Air Force Aid Society (AFAS), Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society (NMCRS), and Coast Guard Mutual Assistance (CGMA) – standing by to assist families; some shutdown-specific cases may be limited. Check with your bank or credit union first for hardship or no-interest loan programs.
• American Red Cross & Operation Homefront – providing emergency financial aid and case management.
• Military OneSource – open 24/7 for confidential counseling, financial coaching, and verified updates.
• For food assistance: 📞 Call 2-1-1 for local resources or visit feedingamerica.org to find nearby pantries.

💙 Nearly a month in, we know how heavy this feels. We are approaching the record for the longest shutdown in US history.

❌ USAA OR NAVY FED BANK USERS ❌

Please know if the government is still shut down on Friday, you will NOT automatically receive pay if you’re active duty military.

In the past these banks may of fronted your paycheck without any action needed on your end. That is NOT the case this time.

You will need to apply in order to receive a one time, interest free loan.

Navy federal application is already live, USAA application will be available tomorrow.

There is so much false information currently circulating and I don’t want to see any military family blindsided in 3 days if government is still shut down.

As we complete our exercises, 4th Platoon executed some great training alongside 6-9 CAV. Great work team!
