Today, members of the Kiefer Fire Department took part in a safe driving program at the high school, providing students with a live demonstration of vehicle extrication procedures. Firefighters utilized the Jaws of Life to provide students with a real life look at how people are extricated from vehicles. The vehicles were generously provided by Glenpool Wrecker Service for training purposes.

🚨 Fire Weather Watch in Effect 🚨

A Fire Weather Watch is currently in effect for the Town of Kiefer through Sunday, March 22 due to increased fire danger conditions.

🚨πŸ”₯ CRITICAL FIRE WEATHER ALERT β€” PLEASE READ & SHARE πŸ”₯🚨

The Kiefer Volunteer Fire Department is urging all residents in Kiefer and surrounding areas to use extreme caution due to critical fire weather conditions. High winds, low humidity, and dry vegetation mean that any spark could quickly turn into a dangerous wildfire.

❌ NO outdoor burning
❌ Avoid parking on dry grass (hot exhaust systems can ignite fires)
❌ Secure chains on trailers to prevent sparks
❌ Dispose of ci******es properly, never toss them outside
❌ Be cautious with equipment that produces heat or sparks

πŸš’ Our volunteers are ready to respond, but prevention is the best protection for our homes, land, and neighbors.

If you see smoke or fire, call 911 immediately.

Please help keep our community safe by sharing this post and staying alert. ❀️

❄️ Extreme Cold Weather Safety Reminder ❄️

As temperatures drop to dangerous levels, we want to help everyone stay warm AND safe during this extreme cold.

πŸ”₯ Please remember:
β€’ Never use ovens, stovetops, or grills to heat your home
β€’ Keep space heaters at least 3 feet away from anything that can burn
β€’ Always plug space heaters directly into the wall no extension cords
β€’ Turn space heaters off when sleeping or leaving the room
β€’ Make sure smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors are working
β€’ Never run generators or grills inside your home.

🚨 Improper heating is a leading cause of winter house fires and carbon monoxide emergencies. A few extra precautions can make a big difference.

πŸ’™ Check on neighbors, especially the elderly, and bring pets inside during the cold.

Stay warm. Stay safe.

The Kiefer Fire Department has responded to two grass fires in the last two days. With dry conditions and wind in Oklahoma, it doesn’t take much for a small spark to turn into a fast-moving fire.

Here are a few ways we can all help prevent grass fires in our communities:

πŸ”₯ Avoid burning on windy or dry days
πŸ”₯ Properly extinguish burn piles drown, stir, and drown again
πŸ”₯ Don’t toss ci******es or matches on the ground
πŸ”₯ Secure chains and equipment so they don’t drag and spark
πŸ”₯ Keep vehicles off tall, dry grass
πŸ”₯ Mow defensible space around homes, barns, and fences

A little extra caution goes a long way in keeping our land, homes, livestock, and firefighters safe. πŸ’ͺπŸš’
