šŸØāœˆļø Vacation Safety Tip: Know Your Hotel Before You Need It
Vacation is a time to relax, explore, and make memories—not to figure out what to do during an emergency.

When you check into your hotel, take a few minutes to:
🚨 Identify where fire alarms and emergency exits are located.
šŸ”¦ Keep a flashlight or your phone within reach at night.
šŸ“± Sign up for local emergency alerts if you're traveling to an unfamiliar area.
šŸŒŖļø Know where to go if severe weather is expected.

Many travelers spend more time figuring out where the ice machine is than where the nearest emergency exit is. While ice is important, it probably won't help much during an evacuation. A few minutes of preparation can make a big difference if an emergency occurs.

🌊 Summer is for cannonballs, not close calls. Whether you’re at the pool, lake, or beach, water safety isn’t just for kids—it’s for everyone who doesn’t want their day to end in a rescue.

🚲 Riding your bike like you’re in Fast & Furious? Cool. Just remember—Dom Toretto still stops at red lights (probably).
Today is World Bicycle Day, so let’s talk 🚦 rules of the road:
āœ… Stop at stop signs
āœ… Ride with traffic, not against it
āœ… Use hand signals (your turn isn’t a secret mission)
āœ… Wear that helmet—because your brain is kind of important

Let’s be honest: in an emergency, nobody wants to be standing in the hallway yelling, ā€œWait… where are my glasses?ā€ A home fire can spread fast, so having an escape plan before there’s smoke and confusion can save lives.

And remember:
šŸ”„ You can replace the casserole dish.
šŸ”„ You can replace the recliner.
šŸ”„ You cannot replace Uncle Bob if he goes back inside for his favorite slippers.

Take a few minutes today to make a fire escape plan with your loved ones. Safety never gets old. ā¤ļøšŸ

Preventing falls in older adults starts at home—where a few simple changes can go a long way toward keeping everyone steady on their feet (and out of ā€œhow did I end up on the floor?ā€ territory).

The good news? A safer home is easier than learning to love that ā€œmodern abstract rugā€ you keep tripping over:
šŸ’” Improve lighting in hallways, stairways, and entryways (so you can actually see what you’re doing without squinting like it’s a mystery novel)
šŸ› Use non-slip mats in tubs and showers (because bathrooms should not feel like skating rinks)
šŸ”‘ Keep frequently used items within easy reach—no climbing, stretching, or creative acrobatics required
šŸ‘Ÿ Wear supportive, non-slip footwear indoors (slippers that stay on are a lifestyle upgrade)

Getting older comes with wisdom… and occasionally the realization that the floor is harder than you remember. A few small changes today can help keep you upright and independent tomorrow.

Each year, an estimated 1.6 to 3.8 million people experience concussions, according to the Brain Injury Research Institute—and many go unreported or undiagnosed.

What’s even more important to know? Concussions don’t just happen in sports. They can happen on the playground, riding bikes, playing outside, or during everyday summer fun.

šŸ‘‰ A concussion isn't ā€œjust a bump on the head.ā€ It’s a traumatic brain injury that needs immediate attention.
🚨 After one concussion, the risk of another increases—and repeated injuries can be more serious.

Whether you're a parent, caregiver, or just keeping an eye on kids this summer:
šŸ› Know the signs (dizziness, confusion, headache, memory issues)
🚲 Speak up and take symptoms seriously
ā˜€ļø Make sure kids get proper rest and recovery time

Summer should be full of fun—not preventable injuries. Stay alert and help keep kids safe wherever they play.

Distractions don’t just come from phones. Everyday things can take your attention off the road, too:
🐶 Pets moving around the vehicle
šŸ—£ļø Talking or interacting with passengers
šŸ” Eating or drinking on the go
šŸŽ¶ Adjusting music or playlists

These small moments can quickly turn into big risks. Staying focused behind the wheel means limiting all distractions—not just screen time. Safe driving is distraction-free driving. Let’s all do our part to keep our roads safe.

May is National Electrical Safety Month—know the warning signs of an overloaded circuit before it becomes a serious hazard.

What you can do:
šŸ“ŗ Spread out high-power appliances across different circuits
šŸ”Œ Unplug devices when not in use
āŒ Avoid overloading outlets and power strips
šŸ’” Have a qualified electrician inspect any ongoing issues

Don’t ignore the warning signs—your electrical system shouldn’t have to work overtime to keep up. Stay aware and keep your home safe.

ā˜€ļø Don’t Fry Day – Stay Sun Safe! The Friday before Memorial Day is recognized as Don’t Fry Day, designated by the National Council on Skin Cancer Prevention to raise awareness about the dangers of UV exposure and the importance of protecting your skin.

As you head outdoors to enjoy the warmer weather, remember to protect yourself and your family—not just today, but every day.

šŸŒ¤ļø UV rays can damage your skin even on cloudy days. Take a few simple steps to reduce your risk and stay safe while enjoying the outdoors.
