Planning to offer your property for short term rental this winter season? Make sure you know Monroe County's requirements!

IMPORTANT: The Monroe County Tax Collector does not have an agreement or contract with online rental platforms such as Airbnb, VRBO, etc. to collect Tourist Development Tax (TDT). It is the property owner's responsibility to collect and remit the 5% TDT to our office each month.

The Key West Tax Collector’s office located in the Harvey Government Center will be closed tomorrow, Friday, October 2. We will resume normal operations on Monday at 8:00a.m.

🍂 We're sharing a few important reminders for the month of October.

Local business tax receipts are delinquent as of October 1. Pay before the end of the month to avoid additional penalties!

Don't forget... Our offices will be closed Monday, October 12 for the Columbus Day holiday.

Keep an eye on your mailbox! 2026 property tax bills will be mailed by November 1.

Registrations expire at midnight on the registered owner’s birthday. Renew up to 90 days in advance and get back to enjoying "scary season!"

Beginning tomorrow, newly designed Florida driver licenses and identification cards will begin rolling out at service centers across the state!

The new credential remains one of the most secure over the counter identification options available today and proudly pays homage to Florida’s history with design features, including:

-An image of Castillo de San Marcos, the oldest masonry fortress in the continental United States, located in St. Augustine;
-The Florida orange is cleverly integrated as the “o” in “Florida”;
-On the back, a tribute to Florida’s Space Coast showing the Discovery Space Shuttle; and
-A Florida alligator incorporated into the REAL ID star in the top right corner of call cards.

Florida residents are not required to replace their existing driver license or identification card. All valid credentials will remain in circulation and be phased out over time.
