To accomplish these goals, Hometown! provides opportunities to educate its members and the voters in Key West and the surrounding communities through candidate lectures, forums, debates, workshops and other political events. These forums, streamed live on YouTube, give candidates an opportunity to speak– and voters the opportunity to actually meet the candidates, face-to-face, hear their ideas, and pick up their campaign literature. These enabling actions allow the voters to more fully consider the merits of the candidates and their proposals, and encourage good government through a fully transparent interchange of ideas. To carry out this mission, Hometown! encourages the citizens of Key West and Monroe County to fully exercise their rights of citizenship, including participation in the political life of their communities by being candidates for public office and to educate and involve themselves in community affairs. Hometown!, a not-for-profit 501 (c)(3) Florida corporation, does not rate, endorse or contribute to candidates. does not participate or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of, or in opposition to, any candidate for public office. In addition, members of the Board of Directors are not authorized in their official capacity to make public or media statements in support of, or in opposition to, a political campaign or candidate for public office.
