It is with heavy hearts that we remember our friend and colleague, Dan Livingston.

Dan was an important part of Habitat for Humanity of Key West & Lower Florida Keys, dedicating his time and talents to helping build and repair homes for families throughout our community. His work touched not only the homes he helped create, but the lives of the families who now call those homes theirs.

As our Board President, Joe Moody, shared: “Dan's dedication to our Habitat affiliate and to the families whose homes he helped build and/or repair was extraordinary, and his impact on this organization will be felt for years to come.
Beyond his work, he was a driving force of progressing work and a steady presence, and he will be greatly missed by all of us who had the privilege of working alongside him.”

We are grateful for the time Dan gave to Habitat, for the families he served, and for the lasting mark he leaves on our organization and our community.

He will be deeply missed. ❤

Home is the foundation on which we build our lives.
But every day 1 in 3 people around the world wake up without the security of safe affordable housing.
We’re working to change that. We know every safe affordable home sparks wider change, leading to better health, education and well-being, more economic growth and less poverty.
That’s why Habitat has helped people around the world build, improve or finance places to call home for more than 50 years. Together with supporters like you, we’ve built a mission — and a movement.
Now, we’re building on that momentum. Through hands-on builds, pop-up exhibits, compelling new research and powerful storytelling, we’re bringing housing to the center stage at a global scale.
Because housing matters. With safe, stable housing, families have the freedom to focus on what matters most, empowering them to build their future on their own terms.
It all starts with an open door.

We were thrilled to welcome St. Peter's United Methodist back to Key West for two action-packed days of volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys!

Day One took us to Rockland Key, where this hardworking crew tackled the daunting task of emptying an entire Connex box. They sorted supplies, organized everything into manageable piles, and hauled away years' worth of debris—all under the Florida sun. Their positive attitudes and willingness to jump into such a grueling project made an enormous difference.

A special thank you to for taking the Connex off our hands and for their planned donation for our leftover tools. Community partnerships like these help us continue serving local families.

Day Two brought the team back to our Eisenhower Apartments, where they jumped right back into action. They cleared fallen palm fronds from the property, unloaded our Habitat van that had been packed to the brim from the Connex cleanout, and transformed an empty apartment by carefully taping and painting the white trim in preparation for its next residents.

Their energy, teamwork, and willingness to jump into every task made a huge impact. We are so grateful they chose to spend part of their summer serving our community once again.
