Today is DAF Day!

Your donor-advised fund can help turn a nonprofit’s plans into something tangible that will make lives better for people in the Keys: healthy food on the table, a summer camp adventure, or a stable place to live.

Recommend a grant today to a nonprofit you care about. If you’re looking for ideas, the Community Foundation can help you find local opportunities that reflect your interests.

Curious about opening a DAF? We can help you explore whether one fits your giving goals.

Have a DAF with another provider? You can support eligible Florida Keys nonprofits through that fund, too.

What will your DAF do?

🎉Congratulations to Lisa Kost, the Florida Keys Volunteer of the Week, and to Growing Hope Foundation at Grimal Grove! 🙌

The annual Unsung Heroes Celebration is sponsored by Lower Keys Medical Center with marketing support provided by The Keys Weekly Newspapers.

"Lisa has been part of the Grimal Grove story long before it carried that name, witnessing the decline of the property and supporting its rebirth when rehabilitation began in 2013. After Hurricane Irma devastated Big Pine Key in 2017 and nearly wiped out the Zebra Longwing butterfly population, Lisa stepped forward to help restore one of the Keys’ most iconic species. Around the same time, Lisa also joined the Growing Hope board, helping guide the organization through difficult periods with steady leadership and devotion to its mission."

Thank you for your volunteer service, Lisa!

What will your DAF do?

Help children get the meals they need? Support coral restoration? Give older adults a place to connect?

📆 October 8 is DAF Day, a national day of action to increase awareness, adoption, and grantmaking through Donor-Advised Funds (DAFs).

❓️What is a DAF?
It's a charitable giving account held at your Community Foundation (or another financial institution) that lets you:
🔵 Make a tax-deductible contribution now and recommend grants to nonprofits over time
🔵 Streamline your giving and stay organized in one easy-to-manage account
🔵 Turn assets *like appreciated stock* into tax-beneficial giving
🔵 Grow your philanthropy and support the causes you care about, whenever the moment strikes
🔵 Give together with other local fundholders to increase your impact

If you have a fund at the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys, contact us to recommend a grant or talk through local opportunities that match your interests.

Curious about opening a DAF? We can help you explore whether one fits your giving goals.

💙 GIVING FOR GOOD | Supporting su***de prevention in Monroe County

A grant from the Aaron Davis Broadaway Su***de Prevention Fund will support the Guidance Care Center’s su***de prevention programs and training in Monroe County.

Fundholders Billy Davis and Miki Yaras-Davis established this Designated Fund at the Foundation with a clear and lasting purpose, relecting their commitment to helping people in our community find support when they need it.

Su***de Prevention Awareness Month is a time to remember those we have lost, support those affected by su***de, raise awareness, and encourage anyone who is struggling to reach out.

Connection is a powerful resource for su***de prevention. Every conversation matters, and even a small act of kindness can make a difference.

🩵💜 Together, we are stronger. 💜🩵

Help is available 24 hours a day:

Thank you to First State Bank for sponsoring Florida Keys Nonprofit Day!🙌

First State Bank’s support allowed the Florida Keys Funders Alliance to host this year’s event at Faro Blanco Resort Marathon Florida Keys, Curio by Hilton, with professional space, technology and logistical support already in place. That meant our teams could focus on the program, and attendees could focus on learning and connecting.

More than 130 nonprofit professionals representing 59 organizations joined us for practical training, a closer look at the nonprofit sector’s economic impact and meaningful conversations with colleagues from across the Keys.

The feedback has been fantastic, and FSB helped make that experience possible.

Florida Keys Nonprofit Day is presented by the Florida Keys Funders Alliance, a collaboration of the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys, Ocean Reef Community Foundation and United Way of Collier and the Keys - Monroe.
