🦷 Advanced Training, Expanded Capability!
NMRTU Key West is bringing advanced specialty expertise directly to our Sailors!
From September 21–24, LT Jacob Dalton, DC, USN, alongside eight of his Navy Dental Corps colleagues, completed rigorous, advanced training in Forensic Dentistry and Oral Pathology at NMRTC Jacksonville.
Led by LCDR Lindsay Jayne, an Oral Pathologist from Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, this intensive four-day course combined clinical exercises and academic lectures.
Key Achievements
πŸŽ“ Forensic Dentistry Additional Qualification Designator (AQD) earned
πŸ“š 28 Hours of Continuing Education (CE) completed
πŸ“ Why This Matters for Key West
At geographically remote duty stations like Key West, access to immediate specialty care can sometimes be limited. By bringing this advanced diagnostic capability back to our clinic, LT Dalton is:
β€’ Enhancing local patient care through faster, on-site identification and evaluation of oral pathology.
β€’ Strengthening self-sufficiency of our remote treatment facility.
β€’ Ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care for our Sailors right here at home.
BZ to LT Dalton and all the Navy dentists who completed this vital training! Thank you for your dedication to keeping our force healthy, ready, and medically fit to fight. βš“πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

βš“ PROMOTION CELEBRATION | NAVAL BRANCH HEALTH CLINIC KEY WEST βš“

Please join the entire Naval Branch Health Clinic Key West team in extending our warmest congratulations to Denise Herndon on her promotion to Chief Petty Officer on September 16, 2026!

In the United States Navy, the Chief Petty Officer (CPO / E-7) is a critical senior noncommissioned officer who serves a unique dual role as both a technical expert and a deckplate leader. Often described as the "backbone of the Navy," Chiefs bridge the gap between commissioned officers and junior enlisted personnel, taking direct responsibility for unit readiness, training, and the preservation of military standards.

"Huge congratulations on joining the Chief’s Mess! Wear those anchors with pride, you’ve truly earned them. Bravo Zulu, Chief! "

βš“ Change of Charge: Honoring Our Leadership βš“

Last Friday, August 21, 2026, Naval Branch Health Clinic Key West conducted a formal Change of Charge ceremony, marking a significant milestone as we bid farewell to Cmdr. Stephanie Clapper and officially welcomed Cmdr. Aaron Eckard as our new Officer-in-Charge.

Under Clapper’s outstanding leadership, our clinic achieved exceptional operational readiness and healthcare success. We are deeply grateful for her dedication, mentorship, and service to our mission, and we wish her fair winds and following seas in her next chapter.

We also extended a warm welcome to Eckard as he assumed charge. We look forward to continuing our mission of excellence and patient care under his guidance and leadership.
