Anne Trautner Washington County Supervisor

Anne Trautner Washington County Supervisor My name is Anne Trautner. I married my husband, David, on April 21, 1990. We have three grown children and three grandchildren. Let me be your voice.

My husband and I are both originally from Wisconsin. We met while attending the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism in 1988. After we got married, we followed his job as a metallurgical engineer, moving to Chicago, Tennessee, Georgia and Virginia before moving back to Wisconsin. We moved to Kewaskum from Lake Geneva nine years ago. We chose to live in

Kewaskum because it is such a beautiful area, and it is our dream place to live! After we moved here, I started working as a journalist for the Kewaskum Statesman newspaper, and that is when I fell in love with the people here. Anyone who has ever moved to a small town knows that is not always an easy thing to do. However, we found the people here so welcoming and genuine, and they are really what made Kewaskum our home. In 2021, I was elected Kewaskum town clerk, and was re-elected to a second term in 2023. As town clerk, I advise the Town Board on budgeting matters. I have worked hard to lower taxes, and since I have been town clerk, the town's mill rate has gone down each year, despite rising costs and extra projects we have accomplished. I have been very involved in the community. Here are some of my activities:

• Executive Director of the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial (2021-2022)
• Kewaskum Area Chamber of Commerce Board Member (2017–2020)
• Member of St. Michael Catholic Church (2015-Present)
• Musician for St. Michael / Holy Trinity parishes (2016-Present)
• Catechist for St. Michael / Holy Trinity parishes (2016-2017)
• Secretary- Kewaskum Historical Society (2016-Present)
• Co-authored the book “Kewaskum, Wisconsin: The Making of a Village,” a 320-page, hardcover, coffee-table style book that documents the history of Kewaskum.
• Helped plan the 125th anniversary celebration of the Village of Kewaskum held in 2022.
• Helped remodel the Kewaskum Historical Society Museum.
• Member of the Reigle Family Park Development Committee (2017-2023)
• Volunteer for the Wisconsin 9/11 Memorial
• Member of the Kiwanis Club of Kewaskum (2020-2023)
• Musician for Kettle Moraine Symphonic Band (2019)
• Musician for Kewaskum Theatre Company productions (2017)

Through all these experiences, I gained insight on the needs of the community, which made me want to serve. So, when the seat for the Washington County Supervisor for District 7 became vacant, I considered running. Then, I started receiving numerous requests from community leaders and residents asking me to run for the office. After hearing from so many people, I decided to file my nomination papers. I believe in being fiscally conservative with a goal of keeping taxes as low as possible. Some of the top issues I am concerned about are roads and shared revenue. Through my work as a journalist, I have been exposed to different aspects of these issues, and through my work as a town clerk, I have gained firsthand knowledge about how we are affected by these issues. I firmly believe in transparent government, and I want to have input from everyone in the community in order to make the best decisions possible. I want to listen to what you have to say! I appreciate your support. Vote on April 2!

Today, I handed off installation plans for playground equipment as it left Reigle Family Park in the Village of Kewaskum to move to its new home at Christian Ozaukee School/Faith Ridge Christian School at the former UWM-WC campus.

The playground equipment that was purchased by Christian Ozaukee School/Faith Ridge Christian School was originally installed at Kewaskum Elementary School in 1999 through the work of volunteers. Over the years, it was updated, and more pieces were added to the playground. In 2019, the KES PTO purchased completely new equipment for the school after raising $50,000.

In 2019, to make room for the new equipment, the Kewaskum School District donated the older playground equipment to a group of volunteers who were developing Reigle Family Park. The volunteers disassembled the equipment, moved it and then installed it at the park. The equipment was touched up with a new paint job.

This year, the equipment needed to move in order to make room for the new Creekside Camp All Abilities Playground, valued at about $1.2 million. The Creekside Camp All Abilities Playground is being installed at Reigle Family Park, thanks to the work of another group of volunteers and generous donors.

Meanwhile, the life of the original playground set has come full circle, and once again will be enjoyed by schoolchildren!

My husband and I have served as foster parents, and it is a very rewarding experience. It is wonderful to make a positive impact on the life of a child. Please help if you can.

🚨There is an urgent need in our community!
Right now, Washington County has only one foster home available for children in emergency situations. When kids need a safe place quickly, options are extremely limited—and that’s something we can change together.

We are actively looking for caring individuals and families who are open to:
• Emergency placements
• Short-term and longer-term foster care

Foster care is about showing up during a critical moment and providing stability, safety, and compassion when it matters most.
If you’ve ever considered fostering—or even just want to learn more—now is the time. Your home could make an immediate difference in a child’s life.
Please reach out to learn more about how to become a licensed foster parent or to ask questions. Even sharing this post helps us reach someone who might be the right fit. 💙 One home can change everything.

Make your voice be heard! Help prevent giant 345 kV transmission lines from going through farmland, wooded areas and rivers in several counties, including Washington County, to bring electricity to the new data center in Port Washington!

The Public Service Commission (PSC) of Wisconsin is accepting public comments about the environmental impact of the proposed transmission lines through Feb. 6.

You can comment in favor of an alternative route that goes along existing power lines. In December, the Washington County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved a resolution supporting the alternative route. We all agreed that the alternative route would minimize environmental disruption, as well as preserve the environmental integrity, scenic character and agricultural vitality of our community.

Comments accepted at this step of the process will help PSC staff investigate potential impacts of the application. Once the final environmental impact statement is completed, which could be a year from now, the public will have an opportunity to comment once again. It will be comments made at that time that will be read by the three Commissioners who will ultimately decide where the transmission lines should go.

You can read about the case in my column in this week’s Kewaskum Statesman. To learn more and to make comments about Docket ID: 137-CE-221, go to

You are invited to attend a Civil War Monument dedication ceremony on Saturday, Sept. 6, at 10 a.m. at Van Vechten Cemetery, located at 8446 Highland Drive in Kewaskum. The cemetery was established by the Van Vechten family in 1851. It was at the suggestion of Jacob T. Van Vechten, who served as town chairman and county supervisor, that the town was named Kewaskum, in honor of Chief Kewaskum, a Potawatomi Indian chief who once lived in the area.

All are welcome to attend a short monument dedication ceremony on Saturday, September 6, 2025, to honor the service of Civil War Veterans Friedrich Kocher, Charles Schuppel, and John Siegel. Services, to include Color Guard and 21-gun salute, will take place at 10 a.m. at Kewaskum Union (Van Vechten) Cemetery on Highland Drive, Kewaskum WI 53040.

The presented monument will ensure that our Civil War Veterans are not forgotten even if their headstones have deteriorated and are no longer legible.
