And we’re open from 10am to 2pm 🙂 We’re down to three more open days this month - if your household hasn’t been in yet this month, you can come in June 23, 25 or 30.

We are often asked what items we are in need of and we are grateful for every donation we receive. We can always use canned fruits and vegetables, mac and cheese, pasta, tomato sauce, cereal and peanut butter. It is also nice to be able to give our clients personal care items such as toothpaste, shampoo, soap and toilet paper.
All we ask is that donors don’t bring us old, expired food items. We check everything that comes in and it’s frustrating for our staff of volunteers to have to throw things away.

OUR HUGE THANKS to Central Junior High students for their summer food drive! They exceeded their goal and brought all the items to us to distribute to our community. We appreciate their efforts ❤️

In order for our clients and our volunteers to stay safe, we have made the decision to not open today - THURSDAY, JUNE 11, due to the predicted strong storms headed this way later this afternoon. We apologize for any inconvenience, we hope everyone stays safe and understands this decision.

Things continue to be busy for us at the food pantry and we thought we would share some numbers from May. We distributed nearly 400 boxes, which assisted over 1,300 people. We also added nearly 30 new households to our client list. And we wrapped up our “Backpacks for Kids” program as the school year ended. On average, we provided about 250 backpacks to area school kids every month.

Central Junior High students are kindly holding a food drive for us! We are grateful for their support, and if you’re able to donate to them, it will definitely help Kewanee residents. Thank you!

Our Junior High students have been working hard in SEL in developing a Reverse Food Drive for the Kewanee Food Pantry for our Building Community lessons. The students have worked on a poster to promote the drive, figuring out logistics like where the donations will be stored, contacting the food pantry to identify needs, as well as developing skills to be great community members!

We will be collecting food items at Central School from June 3rd to June 17th. All donations can be dropped off at Central School from 7AM-1:30PM Monday-Friday. Our goal is to collect 200 items to donate to the Kewanee Food Pantry! Any donations are appreciated! "
