With high humidity and heat forecasted for this week the Henry & Stark County Health Departments & First Choice Healthcare want to remind area residents of the importance of staying safe. Everyone is affected by extreme heat; however, those people at higher risk of a heat-related illness include: older adults, infants & young children, people with chronic heart/lung problems, people with disabilities, overweight persons, those who work in hot settings, users of some medications, and people who are isolated that don't know when or how to cool off or when to call for help. So Stay Cool & Stay Safe!

Thinking ahead can prevent all sorts of weather-related problems.

For example, we know much of Illinois will see temps in the 90s for at least three days in a row later this week. Planning to have water, stay in the shade as much as possible if you have to be outside, wearing loose and light-colored clothing, and keeping your home cool could be the difference between getting through it and getting heat illness.
