The Hope Fire has resulted in the loss of two primary residences and an estimated 20 additional structures, including barns, cabins, and other outbuildings.

We extend our deepest gratitude to Protection Fire District 3 & 8, and especially to the leadership of Chief Herb Hippler and Chief Vince Sainati of Fire District 13, for their immediate and courageous response to this incident. Their swift action, alongside the coordinated efforts of the Stevens County Sheriff's Office, Stevens County 911, U.S. Border Patrol, those fire districts that responded to the countywide all call and other partner agencies, ensured the safe evacuation of all residents in the affected area.

While the loss of property is deeply felt, we are profoundly grateful to report that no major injuries or loss of life occurred. This outcome is a testament to the dedication of our first responders and the resilience and cooperation of our community members. Damage assessments are ongoing and will continue in the coming days as fire activity moderates.

Stevens County Emergency Management encourages landowners who have experienced structure loss or damage and are interested in post-fire recovery assistance to complete the Hope Wildfire Recovery Form. https://forms.office.com/g/XLr9giMPXs This will help us coordinate support and resources for those affected.

PUBLIC AND FIREFIGHTER SAFETY IS THE NUMBER ONE PRIORITY

Acres: 8157 Personnel: 295 Containment: 79% Cause: Under Investigation

Operational Accomplishments: Crews made great progress today on the South, Southeast edges of the fire and felt confident that the fire lines and established 100 feet of black into the interior would hold well, so that crews could concentrate on the North Northwest edge of the fire. Crews patrolled for hot spots and flare ups and used air support support for a few buckets of water to cool down areas with steep terrain. Crews also made great progress identifying and mitigating hazard trees along roadways, mopping up into the interior up to 150 feet along several edges of the fire, and rehabilitating affected areas from the fire and equipment.

Today: You may see some additional smoke or flames (active torching) today as the weather is trending hotter and dryer. Crews are ensuring that the fire stays within the fire perimeter as it burns itself out. Light patrols will be along the Southern edges of the fire, and most crews will concentrate on mopping up and tackling hot spots near the head or Northwest edges of the fire. The use of water tenders and possibly air support will likely take place near North Lael Road and Bull Hill Road. Suppression repair work will also be a priority this week as the fire begins to wind down.

Weather: Mostly sunny skies today with a high of 91 and possibly higher in certain elevations. Chance of lightning at 5%. Winds Northeast 4-8 mph in the morning shifting to the South-Southwest 5 to 9 mph around 1100, with gusts up to 15 mph. The warming trend will continue with hotter and dryer conditions.

Evacuations and Road Closures: All evacuation levels have been lifted for this fire. Northport Flat Creek road is also open. We ask that people exercise care on the road because there are still fire crews in the area. 15 mile road, Lael road and Bull Hill road remain closed to outside traffic. Evacuation and road closure information is available on the Stevens County Emergency Management page https://www.facebook.com/stevenscountyem/.

Safety: IF YOU FLY WE CAN’T. No Drones Please in fire zone. We ask all community members, visitors, and travelers to please slow down on the roads, look out for fire crews, fire equipment, and be aware of drifting smoke. We are still in the area working and have crews and equipment on the roadways.
