🔥 OUR ELDERS—THIS MEAL IS FOR YOU! 🔥

Yesterday, our young fishermen spent a wet but beautiful day on the Evergreen River. The fishing wasn’t easy, but they stayed with it, caught 10 trout, learned from the people around them, and made memories together.

Today, we finish what Catch & Cook is all about.

We’re bringing our youth and elders together around the table to share the meal and celebrate yesterday’s fishing day. We want to make sure we have elders there for our young people to feed, visit with, and learn from.

📍 DAFS Building
Old Rec Building in Schoolview

🍽️ Meal should be ready around 11:00 AM

Menominee elders, please come eat with us today! If you know an elder who may not see this post, please call them, bring them along, or share this directly with them.

This is more than a fishing event. This is our youth learning to provide for and honor the generations who came before them.

Yesterday, the department, in conjunction with Menominee County Sheriff's Office - Wisconsin, Town of Menominee Keshena Fire Department, and MITW Environmental Services hosted a youth fishing event on Legend Lake.

The morning began with instruction on how to properly set up and use their fishing poles that were provided. The youth then headed out on the boats, where they spent the remainder of the morning fishing and enjoying time on the lake.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to Macks Baits LLC for generously donating bait for the event, to Sue Thoma for providing personal flotation devices (PFDs) for all of the young anglers, and to the Legend Lake lodge for allowing us utilize their venue to hold our lunch.

We are also proud to share that all fish caught during the event were donated to the Seven Fires One Community Initiative.

Thank you to everyone who contributed their time, resources, and support to make this event a success. It was a great opportunity for our youth to learn, enjoy the outdoors, and for us to create positive relationships with them.
