Storm Impact Update
Keshena-July 23, 2025

Keshena was impacted by high winds earlier this evening. The affected area stretches from near the Menominee Tribal Jail through downtown Keshena and out toward the lake area along County Hwy VV East. Numerous trees are down and there are widespread power outages throughout the area.

Crews are actively working to clear roads and restore access as quickly and safely as possible. Community members are strongly encouraged to avoid unnecessary travel. If travel is necessary, please slow down and give crews the space they need to work safely.

County Hwy VV East is only open for local traffic to get home until the area is cleared.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation as recovery efforts continue.

**NOTICE**

Today, our area is expecting severe weather. To prioritize the safety of local residents, MITW will be opening the Tornado Safety Shelter located at the southeast corner of Onanekwat Resort, just off Hwy VV East in Keshena.

Although the shelter's interior is not completely finished, it is ready to provide protection from tornadoes/severe weather. At this time, there is no phone service or additional facilities available, except for restrooms, but the main goal is to ensure safety.

Please plan accordingly. If you need to go to the shelter, only do so if it is safe to travel. Avoid going out if conditions are dangerous.
