HAPPY JUNETEENTH

The City of Kerrville municipal offices and the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library will be closed Friday, June 19, 2026, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.

All city parks and the Parks and Recreation Office at Kerrville-Schreiner Park will remain open on Juneteenth.

Municipal offices and the Butt-Holdsworth Memorial Library will resume normal business hours on Saturday, June 20, 2026.

𝗧𝗢𝗪𝗡 𝗛𝗔𝗟𝗟 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗔𝗣: ELM CREEK PIPELINE

Thank you to everyone who attended last night’s Elm Creek Pipeline town hall meeting.

City staff and project team members shared information about Kerrville’s water system, long-range water planning, and the proposed Elm Creek Pipeline project. The discussion focused on how the project is designed to help keep local water local, protect natural resources, reduce pressure on aquifers during drought, and support a more resilient water supply for the future.

The meeting also included time for community feedback and questions from residents.

CITIZENS’ GOVERNMENT ACADEMY GRADUATES RECOGNIZED

At the June 9, 2026, City Council meeting, Mayor Joe Herring Jr. recognized members of the Spring 2026 Citizens’ Government Academy class upon their completion of the 10-week program, which provides a behind-the-scenes look at city operations and services.

The Citizens’ Government Academy offers an interactive learning experience featuring classroom discussions, facility tours, and hands-on activities with city staff. Participants gain insight into the functions of City Council, Public Works, Police, Fire, and other municipal services while developing a deeper understanding of how the city operates.

The program consists of weekly sessions, each lasting approximately three hours. Some sessions include tours of city facilities to further enhance the learning experience.

To be eligible for the Citizens’ Government Academy, participants must:

• Be a resident of Kerrville, own a business in Kerrville, or volunteer in Kerrville
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Not be running for political office during the program period
• Not be a current member of the Kerrville City Council
• Commit to attending all sessions

The Citizens’ Government Academy is free of charge. The next session will take place this fall. Stay tuned for more information!

The potential for heavy rainfall has increased Sunday through Tuesday. A Level 1 of 4 risk for excessive rainfall is in place Sunday, increasing to a Level 2 of 4 risk on Monday.

At this time, the highest potential for heavy rainfall is Monday afternoon through early Tuesday.

Kerrville Pets Alive is hosting an adoption event this Saturday, June 13, from 8 a.m. to noon at Kerr County Animal Control, 199 Spur 100.

KPA will cover the cost of medical care and sponsor half of the adoption fee.

Residents interested in adopting are encouraged to stop by and meet the pets looking for forever homes.
