FLOOD RECOVERY ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE

Kerr County families impacted by the July 16 flood can begin the recovery assistance process now.

The Community Foundation of the Texas Hill Country is supporting a coordinated recovery effort that includes emergency financial assistance, disaster case management, temporary housing assistance, small business assistance, and home repair or rebuilding support.

The Home Repair and Rebuild Assistance Program launches Sept. 21. Eligible homeowners may receive help repairing homes that can be made safe and livable, or rebuilding when repairs are not feasible under program guidelines.

IMPORTANT: You do not need to wait until Sept. 21 to begin the eligibility process.

If you have already completed a needs assessment, contact your disaster case manager to begin eligibility determination.

If you do not know who your case manager is, call Light on the Hill at (830) 315-6104.

If you have not completed a needs assessment, you can scan the QR Code below or go to: https://forms.connectivetx.org/376

Once eligibility is confirmed, households can be connected with a nonprofit repair agency that will assess the home and develop a plan for the work.

The goal of these recovery efforts is to help families move from immediate assistance toward safe, stable housing — and ultimately get home.

RECOVERY MONTH IN KERRVILLE

The City of Kerrville has proclaimed September 2026 as Recovery Month, recognizing the strength of individuals in recovery, the families and friends who support them, and the service providers and community partners who help make recovery possible.

Recovery Month reminds us that prevention works, treatment is effective, and people can and do recover. This year’s theme, “Every Person. Every Family. Every Community.,” emphasizes that no one is alone on the journey through recovery.

Members of the Kerrville Recovery Community Coalition joined the City for the proclamation and shared powerful personal stories of long-term recovery — including milestones of 39 years, 21 years and more than 15 years in recovery.

Their stories reflected the life-changing possibilities of recovery: reconnecting with family, returning to school, building careers, becoming homeowners, serving others and helping connect people with treatment, counseling and community resources.

The City of Kerrville thanks the Kerrville Recovery Community Coalition and all of the professionals, volunteers, families and individuals working every day to strengthen recovery in our community.

KERRVILLE REMEMBERS 9/11 🇺🇸

This morning, community members gathered at River Star Park for Gunny’s Warriors’ 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony, where retired FDNY Capt. Bill Groneman shared his firsthand experiences from Sept. 11, 2001.

Through music, prayer and ceremonial tributes, those gathered joined in remembrance. The program included the national anthem performed by Misty Dawn (Erlund), the presentation of colors and a flag-folding ceremony by the Tivy AFJROTC, and a closing prayer from the Rev. Tim Radkey, U.S.A.R. The Hill Country Honor Guard presented a rifle volley, followed by echo taps performed with George Eychner, U.S.A.F. Ret. Three long blasts sounded at the times the towers fell, followed by a moment of silence.

Thank you to Gunny’s Warriors and everyone who helped bring our community together to honor the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the first responders who continue to serve our communities.

We will never forget.

SEPTEMBER 11 — WE WILL NEVER FORGET

On Sept. 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 lives were lost in terrorist attacks in New York City, at the Pentagon, and near Shanksville, Pennsylvania. In the face of unimaginable tragedy, Americans also witnessed extraordinary courage, sacrifice and unity as first responders, service members and ordinary citizens rushed to help others.

Today, the City of Kerrville joins communities across our nation in honoring the lives lost, the heroes who answered the call, and the families whose lives were forever changed.

May we continue to remember those we lost and the strength and unity our nation showed in the days that followed.

We will never forget.

SUPERTRI KERRVILLE 2026 CANCELED

Supertri Kerrville 2026, scheduled for Sept. 26–27, has been canceled due to flood-related impacts to the race course and event areas.

Please see the post below for additional details and information for registered participants.

Supertri Kerrville 2026, scheduled for September 26–27, has been canceled.

After carefully evaluating the conditions, Supertri determined that significant flood damage has left portions of the race course, transition area, and finish area unsafe for participants. Registered participants will receive additional information directly from Supertri regarding their available options, including:
• Deferring their registration to Supertri Kerrville 2027
• Transferring their registration to another Supertri event on the 2027 calendar at no additional cost
• Requesting a refund
