What is 220, you ask?

This is for YOU SOPHOMORES!! 220 was the cut-off score for the National Merit Semifinalist last year!

Why tell us this now? Isn't the PSAT for my junior year in October? (p.s. That's before HALLOWEEN!) I know, I know.... BUT what you SOPHOMORES are NOT doing is studying for the PSAT because that Junior Year PSAT is the ONE!!! The test that could set you apart, bring you scholarship opportunities, and more!

Where do you start studying then, you ask? Well, it begins with:

1). Go into your College Board account and check your PSAT score and your INDEX score, then;

2). Select the tab to START PRACTICE and import your UNIQUE scores into the KHAN ACADEMY study portal, then;

3). Set up specific times when you are available and FOCUSED to practice, practice, practice!!

Placing STUDENT SAFETY above STANDARDIZED TESTING!

Swarthmore is one of several universities I have seen now take a STRONG STANCE in favor of students over standardized testing. For Swarthmore specifically, they will not require SAT/ACT scores for current freshman, sophomores, or juniors.

AMAZING OPPORTUNITY: TCU Analytics ACADEMY

The Analytics Academy will be a one-week residential program for high school students entering into 10th – 12th grade, July 17th – July 22nd, 2022. Neeley Analytics Academy brings students to campus for a hands-on experience focusing on data analytics and market research.

They are looking for students who possess:

· Strong math skills

· A record of scholastic achievement

· Leadership skills

· Motivation and interest in analytics and problem solving

The deadline for applications is April 1st, 2022. Students will then be notified of acceptance by early May.

TCU will be offering a limited number of full and partial scholarships to students who have provided information of their need for financial assistance.

This is the IDEAL time to apply as JUNIORS to Pre-College or experiential/academic summer programs like this one....

BUT, here's the KEY----- Don't just assume attending a pre-college or academic summer program at a prestigious university will make you stand out or get accepted to college. It is more about seeking opportunities to enrich or experience your passion first-hand further moving you toward your goal/s. It is what you DO when you are there or what you are hoping to learn/get out of the summer program. It is just ONE PIECE of a much bigger picture of who you are, what you are interested in pursuing, and how you would like to add value now or later in life through the use of your passion.

TIP: If you attend a summer program that is academically based or leadership building.... begin with a question- "What do I want to learn or how do I want to grow based on this experience AND how does it fit within the overall goals I have set for myself. Then, find a way to document your experience because you will forget and it is also a chance to capture that STORY within the experience that you can use in your essay to stand out.

ACU is going ABROAD and taking High School juniors and seniors!!

Check out this unique and affordable opportunity:

I wanted to let you know about Summer Scholars, a unique, international experience Abilene Christian University is offering to current high school juniors and sophomores.

This summer, July 10-16, 2022, ACU is taking 20-30 high-performing students to England where they will earn one hour of college credit in an intercultural learning environment while growing spiritually and forming lasting friendships with students from all over the U.S. The cost is $1,500 per student and includes airfare, meals, lodging, excursions, tuition and course fees.
