Scattered storms are possible this afternoon into the overnight hours. The first round, this afternoon into the evening, will be limited in coverage. Overnight, the second round will have higher coverage. Both rounds of storms will be capable of isolated damaging winds and large hail, as well as heavy rain.

Storms will continue to develop across northern and central Iowa this evening into the overnight hours. There is uncertainty on how far south and east these storms will get, given recent thunderstorms trends. The threat for severe storms remains, with uncertainty on the coverage.

Here is the daily breakdown of the daily severe risk and general timing. The areal coverage is expected to slowly increase over the weekend. A marginal, level 1 out of 5, risk is expected Friday night for mainly hail. Over the weekend a slight, level 2 out of 5, risk is currently forecast.

A cold front passing through the area this afternoon/evening will bring through scattered showers/storms and gusty winds. These will develop mid afternoon in our northwest, tracking southeast through the area through the evening.

Low confidence isolated damaging wind potential with any storms late tonight/early Monday mainly in far SE Iowa, NE Missouri.

There remains a chance for severe weather Monday afternoon and evening, where tornadoes, damaging winds, and damaging hail are possible. There continues to be a lot of uncertainty!

There is a threat for a severe weather across the region on Monday. All hazards, including tornadoes, will be possible. The area remains in an Enhanced Risk (level 3 of 5) for severe weather. Stay tuned to the forecast and review your severe weather plan!
