Due to a significant rain event, the City’s storm sewer system is currently overwhelmed. This has caused flash flooding in portions of the downtown area. Crews are actively monitoring conditions and responding where possible. Residents and motorists are advised to use caution and avoid flooded streets.

Head of Communications and Public Affairs for Roquette America advised the City that the plant will be conducting mandated steam venting from Sunday, April 26, through Wednesday, April 29, to comply with state and federal regulatory permitting requirements. This testing may generate noise above typical levels.

At the public hearing any resident or taxpayer may present objections to, or arguments in favor of the proposed tax levy.

It’s time to freshen up your property this spring! The City of Keokuk will hold its Citywide Cleanup from April 18–25, 2026.
🧹 Who’s eligible?
Households within city limits that pay for garbage pickup through the City water bill.
🎟 What you get:
Each eligible household can receive two (2) FREE landfill vouchers (good for two trips).
📍 Voucher Pickup:
Beginning April 13, 2026

A reminder to demolition contractors that are interested in bidding on the demolition and soil remediation project at the Former Elkem Carbide site, there is a A MANDATORY pre-bid meeting and walkthrough scheduled for 10:00 A.M. today, Tuesday, March 17, 2026, at 365 Carbide Lane, Keokuk, Iowa. Bidders are invited to ask questions and tour the facility. Attendance is required to bid on this project. Bidders will be required to sign an attendance form at the meeting.
