The WA Army National Guard Best Soldier and NCO competition happened this weekend. Dark Rifle NCOs are just built different. We won. Bottom line. From the opening bell to the last step, SSG MUDGE led the event the entire weekend. Never trailing for a second. The Dark Rifles NCOs placed #1 and #4 and will now represent the state of Washington at Regionals! It’s a Dark Rifle World !

This weekend we had the privilege of sending 2 junior enlisted Soldiers to the WA Army National Guard Best Soldier and NCO competition. Soldiers from across the state put their skills to the test. I’m proud to share that the Dark Rifles swept the competition (and our sister BN). The Dark Rifles Soldiers placed #1 and #2 and will now represent the state of Washington at Regionals! It’s a Dark Rifle World !

Dark Rifles welcomed Governor Bob Ferguson and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to the Kent Armory today for a press conference to provide updates to Washingtonians on flood conditions. Dark Rifles have been involved in this response from the beginning and will continue their presence through the holidays as needed. Duties include monitoring levees, providing response teams to assist the Department of Transportation if evacuations become necessary, and a crew for sandbag filling and emplacement. Dark Rifles remain Always Ready, Always There!

In the early morning hours today, several Dark Rifle Soldiers assisted swift water rescue teams with the evacuation of people caught in vehicles after a local levee broke in King County. A few moments ago, notice was given that many more Dark Rifles will be moving to King County to assist with levee repair and any other needs that may arise. As the rain continues, Dark Rifles continue to be positioned to help!

While the mission is far from over, the Dark Rifle Task Force took a quick break to host at the Skagit Regional Airport. During the visit, the Task Force Commander was able to conduct an aerial reconnaissance of the current damage caused by massive flooding. Several Soldiers were recognized for their outstanding efforts and the local VFW and Legion were on site serving food to Soldiers. While the loss of property and damage to infrastructure countinues to be understood, the Dark Rifles stand ready for the next round of rain and ensuring that Washingtonians remain safe!

Safeguarding Washingtonians is an honor and a mission that we train for and are always prepared to execute. Thousands of sandbags filled, traffic control points secured, and lives saved!
