The Portage Development Board held their 12th annual awards ceremony last evening at Northeast Ohio Medical University. The Village at St. Edward project underway here in Brimfield Township received the Locate Award, facilitated by Brimfield Economic Development Director Mike Hlad, the Portage County Port Authority, and Portage County. Upon completion in 2027, the project is expected to employ 83 people.

Conditional Use Request: Applicant is requesting an extension on their conditional use permit to construct a Planned Residential Development on the properties located at 1563 and 1669 Tallmadge Road. The original request was granted by the BZA on July 16, 2025. Resolution Section 200.09 (C.) The reviewing zoning authority (i.e. Zoning Inspector or Board of Zoning Appeals) and the applicant may agree to an extension of time based on reasonable circumstances that precluded the applicant from beginning or substantially completing construction. The circumstances and facts must be submitted to the reviewing zoning authority in writing, along with a schedule for completion of work. Unless otherwise specified in this Resolution, the reviewing zoning authority may grant an extension of time for up to six (6) months before the applicant would need to submit a new application for review. If an extension is granted, the reviewing zoning authority shall notify the affected person(s) in writing of such extension and the time frame for completion of work.

All children ages 5–12 are welcome! Children must be accompanied by an adult.

The Zoning Commission will meet on Wednesday, June 10th at 6:30 pm at Brimfield Town Hall for a Public Hearing. The meeting is regarding a proposed amendment to Section 400.10 (B) 56. L. to remove #1. “Ownership: Any ownership arrangement, including, but not limited to, fee simple lots and condominiums, is permitted in a conservation development. Regardless of the ownership of the land, the arrangement of the dwelling units shall comply with the spacing requirements of this section.” from the Township Zoning Resolution.
