It's not quite a cat-astrophe, but we're running low on toys for our felines!

You can help us out by going to bit.ly/RASKCWishLists where you can find links to purchase items on Amazon and have them shipped directly to us. We're especially looking for the balls and spring toys shown here, but there are lots of other items we can use as well.

If you prefer, you can also donate cash so we can purchase cat and dog toys, pet food, and other supplies that we use at the Pet Adoption Center.

Summer is almost over (😢) so we wanted to send you into the holiday weekend with a smile. Our thanks to Alene for this update:

"Hello! I randomly had the urge to inform you guys about the kitten I adopted from you around two years ago in case anyone wondered about her. Her name was Lindt then, she is named Leopard now.

"I don't know if anyone will see this but I thought you might find it interesting to know that she is thriving incredibly! I love her so very much, and she has a special bond with my other cat Brandy, they're inseparable.

"She is a big cuddle bug, she rolls on her back to ask for belly rubs, she gives head butts and is really just the most perfect, beautiful girl. She's very happy and gets good food, nighttime zoomies, and endless love.

"I'm forever grateful I visited your shelter and met her."

Get all the tea with Matcha, our Pet of the Week!

This young pittie girl came to us in mid-July. At almost 50 pounds, Matcha is considered a medium to large breed dog.

When she first got to the Pet Adoption Center, she was pretty shy and nervous. Since then, she’s had a chance to show her true colors! While Matcha can still be unsure of new people and situations, she is super treat motivated – snacks are definitely the way to her heart! Once she gets to know you, Matcha is a very sweet and affectionate girl.

Matcha is just over a year old, so she still has a lot of puppy energy. She gets the zoomies and loves to play! She’s also very “bouncy,” and can almost clear a fence – so she will need to be well-supervised in a yard, or taken out on a leash. Matcha will do best in an adults-only home, or perhaps one with older children, who can keep her adventurous side safely contained.

Ready to make a match with Matcha? She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. As our Pet of the Week, her adoption fee is reduced, though a pet license fee may apply. Her adoption comes with many benefits, including a $40 credit toward training through our partners at Rover. In addition, all adopters from RASKC can can benefit from enrolling their new pet in Fetch Pet Insurance. Fetch offers the most comprehensive plan in North America with no restrictions on breed, age, or size. Together, we’re making sure pets are happy and healthy in their new forever homes.

We’d love to have you stop by the King County Pet Adoption Center to see all our adorable adoptable animals! We’re located at 21615 64th Ave. S. in Kent. Adoption hours are noon to 5 p.m. weekdays and noon to 4 p.m. weekends. Note that we will be closed on Monday, September 7 for the Labor Day holiday.

Need a midday mid-week adoptable pet pick-me-up? Draco has you covered!

This sweet, cuddly boy was found at a local off-leash dog park. He's very food motivated and walks well on a leash.

If you already have a cat, Draco seems to do well with them! (As always, a slow introduction to new animals in the home is best.)

Our friends in Eastern Washington around the Spokane area need your help. Wildfires have devastated the region, leaving many families and pets in need of food, litter, and other supplies.

You can donate needed pet products at any Mud Bay store in the Puget Sound region now through August 30. Items will be shipped to animal organizations like SpokAnimal C.A.R.E.

Top requested items include:
- Dry dog and cat food
- Food and water bowls
- Leashes
- Harnesses for dogs and cats
- Cat litter
- Pet treats
