We want to give a huge THANK YOU to Valerie, who comes to Freedom House every week and generously volunteers her time to support our veterans.

Valerie is always willing to jump in and help — whether she’s cleaning around the shelter, cooking delicious meals, or bringing in her specialty baked goods that our veterans absolutely LOVE! 🧁🍪❤️

It means so much to have someone who continues to show up week after week and gives her time simply because she cares about our veterans and Freedom House.

Thank you, Valerie, for your kindness, generosity, hard work, and huge heart for our veterans. We appreciate you more than you know! 🇺🇸❤️

🎨🇺🇸 FRIDAYS AT FREEDOM HOUSE! 🇺🇸🎨

A very special THANK YOU to Linda Poling and Jacob Schmidt with Kent State University for coming to Freedom House every Friday and sharing art therapy and creative experiences with our veterans! ❤️

Our veterans have been having such a great time participating, learning new things, getting creative, and enjoying time together.

🌟 This week was especially amazing! They introduced our veterans to Shibori, a traditional Japanese resist-dyeing technique sometimes described as Japanese tie-dye. Everyone had the opportunity to learn about the process and create their own unique dyed fabric designs.

It was such an amazing hands-on learning experience, and the finished pieces turned out incredible! 🎨👏

Activities like these are about so much more than making art. They provide opportunities for creativity, relaxation, learning, social connection, and simply having fun together.

We are incredibly grateful to Linda, Jacob, and Kent State University for dedicating their time and talents to our veterans each Friday.

Thank you for continuing to bring new experiences, creativity, and smiles to Freedom House! 🇺🇸❤️

⚾️ Cleveland Guardians Game with Our Freedom House Veterans! ❤️💙

We had such a wonderful time attending the Cleveland Guardians game with our Freedom House veterans! It was a great opportunity to get out, enjoy some baseball, and make memories together.

A very special thank you to three of our amazing volunteers — Doug, Valerie, and Mike — for joining us and spending the evening with our veterans. We truly cannot thank you enough for everything you do. Your time, kindness, and continued support mean so much to our veterans and to Freedom House.

It was our pleasure having you there with us. Thank you for continuing to show up, give back, and help make experiences like this so special for the veterans we serve. 🇺🇸⚾️❤️

Vet Fest 2026!

We had such a great time attending Vet Fest 2026 this past Saturday! Our Freedom House veterans came out and had an awesome time enjoying the day, connecting with others, and being part of such a wonderful event honoring those who have served. ❤️🤍💙

I also had the opportunity to set up a table representing Freedom House and Axess Family Services, share information about the work we do, and connect with members of the community and other organizations that support our veterans.

It was a great day filled with community, connection, resources, and appreciation for our veterans. We are grateful for events like Vet Fest that bring everyone together and remind our veterans just how much their service and sacrifices are appreciated.
