Kaamil Omar Sallah was taken into custody at Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport after returning to the United States. Federal prosecutors accuse him of fraudulently obtaining nearly $1.3 million from Minnesota’s Medicaid-funded Housing Stabilization Services program by billing for housing services they say were never actually provided. ⚖️

Those taxpayer dollars were intended to help vulnerable people—including individuals with disabilities, mental-health needs, and substance-use disorders—find and maintain stable housing. The allegations raise another serious question about oversight of public programs designed to help people who genuinely need assistance.

Sallah now faces federal wire-fraud charges, and the allegations must be proven in court. But every proven case of fraud involving public assistance should bring serious consequences, recovery of stolen funds wherever possible, and reforms that close the loopholes that allowed the money to disappear.

Any specific fraud allegations still need to be established through official investigations and the courts, but taxpayers deserve to know how questionable operations received approval in the first place.

Public money intended for real patients should reach real patients. Strong oversight, transparent audits, and accountability for anyone proven to have committed fraud are essential.

Three young children lost their lives in the Lindsay Clancy case, and their deaths should never become secondary to the debate surrounding their mother’s mental state or the jury’s deliberations. Eleven jurors were reportedly prepared to find Clancy not guilty by reason of insanity, while one holdout refused to agree, resulting in a mistrial.

Mental illness can be crucial when determining criminal responsibility, but it does not erase what happened to Cora, Dawson, and Callan. At the same time, an insanity verdict is not simply “letting someone walk”—it is a specific legal finding about whether the defendant was criminally responsible under the law.

The holdout juror should not be attacked merely for reaching a different conclusion after hearing the evidence. Justice requires independent jurors, due process for the accused, and above all, remembering the three children whose lives were lost. 💔⚖️

Political protest alone should not automatically be described as terrorism; allegations of supporting designated terrorist organizations require evidence and should be distinguished from constitutionally protected advocacy.

For supporters of Rubio’s approach, the principle is clear: foreign visitors must follow U.S. law, and anyone proven to provide unlawful support to terrorist organizations should face serious immigration consequences.

A New York firefighter who remembers the sacrifice of September 11 has every right to speak passionately about the city he served and the country he loves. For first responders who ran toward danger that morning, New York’s streets carry memories of extraordinary courage, loss, and sacrifice. 🇺🇸🗽

Today, demonstrations involving foreign conflicts, immigration, and political movements have fueled arguments about where legitimate protest ends and respect for America’s history and public spaces begins. People are free to protest and display foreign flags, but critics are equally free to demand that New York’s leaders focus on public safety, city services, and the concerns of the people they represent.

That disagreement should remain about policies and conduct—not someone’s nationality, ethnicity, or religion. New York can remain an international city while remembering something fundamental: it is an American city, and the sacrifices of its first responders should never become secondary to politics.

A federal judge sentenced two defendants to 97 months in prison in a Minnesota child-nutrition fraud case involving approximately $8.9 million. Prosecutors said money intended to feed children during the pandemic was instead diverted through fraudulent claims and spent on expenses including luxury vehicles and real estate. ⚖️

The case is part of the broader Feeding Our Future scandal, which exposed an enormous fraud scheme involving fabricated meal counts, false paperwork, shell entities, and kickbacks. The scandal has also fueled continuing questions about whether Minnesota’s oversight systems under Gov. Tim Walz were strong enough to detect and stop fraud sooner. That is an accountability question worth investigating without assuming criminal responsibility by officials who have not been charged.

Money meant to feed hungry children should never become somebody’s personal fortune. Taxpayers deserve rigorous audits, recovery of stolen funds wherever possible, and prosecution of everyone proven to have participated in the fraud.

Ground Zero is sacred ground, where nearly 3,000 innocent lives were taken on September 11, 2001. As families gathered to read the names of their loved ones, politicians including AOC and Zohran Mamdani faced criticism over moments in which they appeared to smile during the solemn commemoration. 🇺🇸🕊️

Mamdani’s attendance was already controversial after some 9/11 families and retired Port Authority officers publicly urged him to stay away. But photographs and brief expressions alone do not necessarily reveal what someone was thinking or whether they intended disrespect.

September 11 should rise above partisan politics. Public officials who attend Ground Zero carry a responsibility to show dignity and keep the focus where it belongs—on the victims, their families, and the heroes who answered the call.

Never Forget is more than a slogan. It is a responsibility.
