Big things are on the way for KVFD! đźš‘

Recently, a group of KVFD volunteers traveled to Florida for the final pre-construction meeting on our new ambulance, which will replace a 2016 unit that has reached the end of its service life.

The new ambulance is part of KVFD's ongoing commitment to ensuring our crews have the equipment they need to provide the highest level of service to the community.

Stay tuned for more updates as construction progresses!

For years, Christophe Marchand would sit at the traffic light near Plyers Mill Road and Connecticut Avenue, look toward KVFD Station 5, and tell his family, “One day, I’ll be driving Ambulance 705.” 🚑

Three years ago, Christophe took the leap and applied to join KVFD. Today, he’s a volunteer EMT, certified ambulance driver, and firefighter—taking on new challenges and pursuing his passion for service in his late 50s.

His story is a reminder that there’s no single path into the fire service. Sometimes, all it takes is finally deciding to take that first step. 🔥

Read Christophe’s spotlight to learn about his journey, what he’s learned along the way, and why he says, “I should have joined KVFD way sooner.”
