🥧 Join us on Pi Day 🥧
Saturday, March 14, 2026, at 10:14 am and 3:14 pm, the Bolan Schoolhouse Cultural Center will be hosting a
“PI DAY” celebration.
📚Pi is a mathematical constant, approximately representing the ratio of a circle's circumference to its diameter, and is an irrational, infinite number crucial for geometry, often celebrated on March 14th.
BSCC board members, and friends of Bolan will be sharing homemade pie and showing a 76-minute documentary made by Iowan Beth Howard of Ottumwa. She is an author, essayist, filmmaker, and pie baker. She also considers herself a pie evangelist after experiencing the myriad ways that pie has not only saved me but has made the world a better place.
🎥 A PIECE OF AMERICA 🎥 is a feature documentary about pie, the outsized role it plays in Iowa’s—and America’s—culture, and the ways this humble pastry can unite us. Its subject of community building and kindness is more important than ever.
A variety of homemade pies will be available on the silent auction beginning at 10:00 am for the morning show and 3:00 pm in the afternoon. Seating is limited, reservations strongly recommended and may be made by calling BSCC treasurer Mary Wendt at 641-425-8773. There will be a $10 fee which includes a slice of
homemade pie and coffee anytime.
If you would like to donate a pie for this occasion, contact Lori Willert at 641-903-9472. We know there are many excellent pie bakers out there!
Sponsors bringing the documentary to Bolan currently include: Farmers State Bank, St. Ansgar State Bank, Northwood State Bank and also supported with funds from Thrivent.
