A beautiful day on Lake Michigan for the Kenosha Yacht Club’s 68th Annual Blessing of the Fleet.

Deputy Chief Scott Krueger represented the KFD during the ceremony, joining other distinguished guests and honorable speakers in recognizing the importance of safety, preparedness, and service on the water.

In his remarks, Deputy Chief Krueger highlighted the partnerships that support water safety in Kenosha and shared, “No single agency can do it alone, and our success is built on teamwork, professionalism, and a shared mission of protecting those we serve.”

Prior to his career in the fire service, Deputy Chief Krueger served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Enterprise from 1997 to 2001, making his participation in today’s event especially meaningful.

Thank you to the Kenosha Yacht Club for hosting this annual tradition and for bringing the community together to wish safe passage to all who work on and enjoy Lake Michigan.

🐢🚨 Yesterday, the crew of Station 6C came across a local resident in need of a little help getting home.

A turtle was attempting to make his way back to the pond behind the station, but after traversing the roadway, he couldn’t quite clear the curb. The crew provided a quick lift assist, safely returning him to the water before his commute became a shell-shocking experience.

He was released without incident and appeared ready to resume his regularly scheduled turtle activities.

No injuries reported. One turtle assisted. Nice work, Station 6!
