Westosha Central High School Investigation

NEWS RELEASE

DATE: October 7, 2026
EVENT: Westosha Central High School Investigation
LOCATION: Kenosha County, WI
RELEASED BY: Lt. Chase Forster - Public Information Officer

On Tuesday, October 6, 2026, at approximately 2:20 p.m., a Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office deputy serving as the school resource officer at Westosha Central High School was notified by school administration of a concern regarding communication between a football coach and a student through Snapchat.

The deputy interviewed the student and the coach and reviewed the information provided. The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau also assisted in the matter.

Based on the information obtained at this time, no criminal violation has been identified, and no criminal charges have been filed.

School administration is addressing the matter internally, and the football coach is no longer employed as a coach at Westosha Central High School. The football coach was not a teacher, support staff member, or substitute teacher. The school’s personnel decisions are separate from the Sheriff’s Office’s assessment of whether a criminal offense occurred. Questions regarding those decisions should be directed to the school district.

The Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office takes reports involving student safety seriously. To protect the student’s privacy, the student’s name is not being included in this release.

🐾🏅 Honoring Deputy John Lanctot’s Years of K9 Service 🏅🐾

Please join us in congratulating Deputy John Lanctot #270, who recently received the Award of Merit from the Wisconsin Law Enforcement K9 Handlers Association (WLECHA) in recognition of his years of faithful service to the citizens of Wisconsin.

Deputy Lanctot began his K9 handler career in 2011 with K9 Klaus. Following Klaus’s passing in 2016, he partnered with K9 Fritz in 2017, continuing a proud commitment to protecting our community that carried through Fritz’s retirement.

Over more than 14 years of K9 service, Deputy Lanctot’s work helped apprehend dangerous offenders, locate illegal narcotics, save missing and endangered people, and strengthen connections with the community. Behind those accomplishments were years of training, patience, and the extraordinary bond between a handler and his K9 partner.

Being a K9 handler is a commitment that extends well beyond a shift. Deputy Lanctot embraced that responsibility, and his dedication to Klaus, Fritz, and our K9 program has made a lasting difference at the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office.

Thank you, Deputy Lanctot, for your years of hard work, for the care you gave your partners, and for helping keep our citizens and fellow deputies safe. This recognition is well deserved! 💙🐾

DATE: September 22, 2026
EVENT: Fatal Vehicle Crash
LOCATION: Kenosha County, WI
RELEASED BY: Lt. Chase Forster - Public Information Officer

Kenosha County Sheriff’s Office Deputies and personnel from Bristol Fire and Pleasant Prairie Fire responded to a three-vehicle crash in the 21200 block of County Highway C (Wilmot Road) at 5:21 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026.

The preliminary investigation indicates a Chevrolet HHR driven by a 19-year-old man from Genoa City, Wisconsin, was traveling east on County Highway C when it crossed the centerline and sideswiped a westbound vehicle. The HHR then collided head-on with another westbound vehicle, a Chevrolet Impala driven by a 46-year-old woman from Ingleside, Illinois. The two vehicles involved in the head-on collision came to rest in the westbound lanes.

Both drivers were trapped in their vehicles and had to be extricated by rescue personnel. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The man was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries and is cooperating with investigators.

The driver of the vehicle that was sideswiped was not injured and provided a witness statement.

The joint agency Major Crash Assistance Team (MCAT) responded to investigate the crash. The Kenosha County Medical Examiner’s Office also responded to the scene.

The woman’s name is being withheld pending notification of her family.

“Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the woman who lost her life in this tragic crash,” Sheriff David Zoerner said. “I want to thank the deputies, firefighters and rescue personnel who responded to this difficult scene. We are committed to conducting a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding this crash.”

The roadway was reopened at 10:00 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation.
