Today, June 15, 2026, marks the 20th anniversary of World Elder Abuse Awareness Day. The call to action around the world encourages communities to further their knowledge and understanding of abuse, neglect and exploitation of older adults, while working to protect and defend them. A Kenosha County Adult Protective Service worker’s concern is for the health and well-being of the person at risk. Their goal is to strive to help vulnerable adults, such as older adults and adults with a disability, remain as independent as possible. Advance Directives are legal documents that allow you to communicate decisions and wishes about medical care to family, friends, and healthcare professionals if you can no longer make those decisions. Trained staff are available to assist Kenosha County residents with completing Health Care Power of Attorney paperwork. Services are free and confidential. The ADRC offers a Family Caregiver Support Group on the first Thursday of every month. Do you set up medication, run errands, make meals, handle finances, or drive for an adult who isn’t able to do so anymore? This group is for you! Join fellow caregivers as you share your experiences, ask questions and learn something new. Facilitated by Margaret Ricchio, Caregiver Support Specialist.
