This page is for the Keno Fire Department and the volunteers and community members to stay informed with what is going on in the community and around the station. We are currently going through several changes internally and we are very proud to say that we have 9 new volunteers who are in the EMT Basic class and that will be attending an in house firefighter 1 academy. We plan to make it an annua

l training to have 1 EMT basic class and 1 Firefighter I academy per year to keep our new volunteers certified and qualified to respond on emergency 911 calls.

Good morning,

We have exciting news to pass on to our residents, property owners, and business owners within our fire protection district.

Last summer we worked with ISO to review and update our fire protection classification for insurance.

After extensive review of apparatus, operational capacity, water supply, training, and dispatch capacity we demonstrated that we have a more robust protection classification than previously scored.

Keno Rural Fire Protection District is now :

NEW ISO PPC classification 4/4Y

ISO’s Public Protection Classification Program (PPC) plays an important role in the underwriting
process at insurance companies. In fact, most U.S. insurers – including the largest ones – use PPC
information as part of their decision- making when deciding what business to write, coverage’s to
offer or prices to charge for personal or commercial property insurance.

Each insurance company independently determines the premiums it charges its policyholders. The
way an insurer uses ISO’s information on public fire protection may depend on several things – the
company’s fire-loss experience, ratemaking methodology, underwriting guidelines, and its
marketing strategy.

Due to weather and current conditions, all open burning of yard debris has been closed in the KENO Fire District. Cooking fires are still permitted but regulations must be followed regarding having water and fire fighting tools on site. You must stay where you can monitor the fire. Please use care. Vegetation has become dry, and temperatures are warmed up enough that a fire could get out of control quickly.
