Twenty-five years later, our community came together to remember the 2,977 lives lost on Sept. 11, 2001, honor those who answered the call, and reflect on the courage and service that followed.
A special thank you to everyone who helped make Kennewick’s 25th Anniversary 9/11 Memorial Ceremony possible.
Thank you to our speakers and ceremony participants:
• Darin Kinder, 9/11 survivor and former U.S. Secret Service Special Agent, for sharing his powerful story as our keynote speaker.
• Sen. Matt Boehnke
• Khris Beyer, PMP
• Melissa Dahir
• Kennewick Fire Chief Michael Heffner
• Kennewick Mayor Jason McShane
Thank you to our sponsors and partners:
• Consolidated Electrical Distributors and KPD Foundation for sponsoring
• Numerica Credit Union, for providing the Field of Remembrance — 2,977 American flags, one for every life lost 🇺🇸
• Ben Franklin Transit, for providing free shuttle service for the event
• Heritage Professional Landscaping, Inc., for providing and placing all of the plants bordering the Field of Remembrance 🇺🇸
And thank you to the volunteers, city staff, students, community organizations, sponsors, partners and everyone behind the scenes who helped prepare the memorial site, coordinate the ceremony, support transportation, assist attendees and bring this meaningful day together.
Most importantly, thank you to everyone who showed up. Whether you visited the Field of Remembrance, attended the ceremony, volunteered your time, or simply paused to remember, your presence helped ensure the lives lost 25 years ago will never be forgotten.
