Below is information on the road closures for the upcoming Mushroom Festival.

Starting Friday, 9/11/26, at 4:30 PM, roads in Kennett Square Borough will be shut down in preparation for the 2026 Mushroom Festival, which will occur on Saturday, 9/12/26, and Sunday, 9/13/26. Please expect significant traffic delays throughout the weekend.

The parking garage, located at 100 E. Linden Street, will be open for parking on Saturday and Sunday for a $20 fee.

All meters in the Borough will be blocked off for parking starting 9/11/26 at 4 PM.

East and West State Street will be closed from Race Street to Garfield Street from Friday at 4:30 PM through Sunday at 11:45 PM.

Union Street will be closed from West Linden Street to Cypress Street from Friday at 4:30 PM through Sunday at 11:45 PM.

S. Broad Street will be closed between State and Cypress from Friday at 4:30 PM through Sunday at 11:45 PM.

Center Street will be closed between State and Cypress from Friday at 4:30 PM through Sunday at 11:45 PM.

Meredith Street will be closed between State and Cypress from Friday at 4:30 PM through Sunday at 11:45 PM.

Lincoln Street will be closed between State and W. Linden Street from Friday at 4:30 PM through Sunday at 11:45 PM.

Lafayette Street will be closed between State and Cypress from Friday at 4:30 PM through Sunday at 11:45 PM.

If you come into town via North Union Street, you will be detoured to either West or East Linden Street, depending on your direction of travel.

South Broad Street from Cypress Street to Mulberry Street and Juniper Street from Church Alley to Sycamore Alley will have no parking signs on Saturday, 9/12/26, for the Car Show, which will occur between 7 AM and 5 PM.

After your Labor Day Holiday Weekend... Check out the Borough Council meeting on Wednesday, September 9 at 7pm at 600 S. Broad Street! Take part in what is happening in your Borough! You can join the meeting in person or via Zoom.

Below are three notifications from the Borough of Kennett Square regarding the garbage/recycling pickup schedule for the week of September 7, a lane closure on E. State Street on Tuesday, September 8, and a Borough Council meeting scheduled for Wednesday, September 9:

Leaf bag and limb collection, as well as garbage/recycling pick up the week of September 7 will be delayed one-day due to Labor Day. For the week of September 7, leaf bag and limb collection will be Tuesday, September 8 and garbage/recycling pickup will be Wednesday, September 9.

On Tuesday, September 8, beginning at 7:00am, crews will conduct tree maintenance to remove hazardous trees and limbs along E. State Street (between S. Willow Street and Union Street). Traffic will be reduced to one lane for most of the day, with brief full-lane closures as needed. Drivers should anticipate delays and plan for additional travel time. The Borough apologizes for any inconvenience and appreciates the community's cooperation and patience.

A Borough Council meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 9 at 7:00pm at Borough Hall (600 S. Broad Street).

The Borough, in partnership with the Mayor’s Office, is launching a community-wide competition inviting artists and designers to submit new concepts for the Borough’s official logo and seal.

The submission period for the competition is from September 1 until October 15. The community will be able to vote on the designs from October 16-November 15.
