Dear Veterans and GVDA Supporters –
Georgia Veterans Day Association joins all Americans in celebrating the birth of our nation.
The United States of America was never a certainty. It began, and continues today, only due to the dedication and hard work exhibited by every citizen. Each of us play a role in ensuring that we continue to be a beacon of freedom for other nations to emulate.
I love the sense of patriotism that Americans display on Independence Day. Streets lined with American Flags. Red, white, and blue bunting adorning porches and fences. And parades and concerts bringing our citizens together in celebration. Each of us should strive to live with that same patriotic spirit each day of the year.
From the very beginning, our military provided the blanket of security to allow our nation to grow and prosper. More importantly, our military men and women have met and defeated many threats over the last 250 years. From fighting the British as we declared our independence to defending against Japanese and German attacks during World War II. From defending freedom in South Korea to the generation of our military men and women that responded to the 9/11 attacks. Our Army, Air Force, Marines, Navy, Coast Guard, and Space Force continue to keep our nation free and any celebration on this day would be incomplete without also recognizing their service.
For 2026, our official theme is: "Honoring Global War on Terror Veterans and Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of 9/11" and pays special honors to these outstanding men and women who serve within all branches of our military services.
Please join us on 7 November 2026 as we honor our Military Veterans and Active-Duty military members. The Georgia Veterans Day Parade in Midtown Atlanta and the Observance Ceremony at Woodruff Arts Center are free and open to the public. That evening, we will present our ticketed annual black-tie Freedom Ball in the Oceans Ballroom at the Georgia Aquarium.
Happy Independence Day!
Respectfully,
Kevin L. Miller
