Congratulations and Well Deserved Steve!

For his service and dedication to the veterans of Cattaraugus County and their families, Steve E. McCord received the John B. Sampson Service Officer of the Year Award. McCord, director of the Veterans Service Agency, was presented the award July 17 at The American Legion Department of New York 108th Convention held in Syracuse. At the 2026 American Legion National Convention, delegates adopted new membership eligibility language for the American Legion Auxiliary — expanding eligibility and allowing more family members to join the ALA.
