Dear Friends, Community Leaders, Civic Organizations, and Members of the Kenmore/Town of Tonawanda Community,
The Members of the Milton J. Brounshidle American Legion Family are pleased to announce the formation of the Memorial Hall Centennial Committee as we begin planning a year-long celebration honoring the 100th Anniversary of this historic community landmark.
Built by the Town of Tonawanda as a lasting tribute to the American Legion Veterans returning home from the War to End All Wars, Memorial Hall holds a special place in our community’s history. The cornerstone was laid in 1926, and the building was officially dedicated on November 11, 1927 — Now Veterans Day — as a symbol of gratitude, remembrance, and service.
As we approach this milestone anniversary, we are inviting interested Village of Kenmore and Town of Tonawanda residents, civic groups, organizations, businesses, and Village & Town leaders to join us in helping plan and execute Centennial events that will celebrate Memorial Hall’s legacy and its continued importance to our community.
Planned Centennial activities may include, but are not limited to:
• A Centennial Gala celebration
• Kenton Largest Disco event
• Centennial Golf Tournament
• Establishment of a Hometown Heroes Banner Program honoring local Veterans and First Responders
• Additional community events and programs leading up to the
Memorial Hall Rededication Ceremony on Veterans Day 2027
We welcome anyone with ideas, enthusiasm, community spirit, or a desire to help preserve and celebrate this important piece of local history.
Our first Centennial Committee meeting will be held:
Tuesday, June 30th at 7:00 PM
Memorial Hall – Lower Meeting Room
We encourage everyone receiving this invitation to share it with friends, neighbors, organizations, and community members who may be interested in participating. The success of this historic celebration will depend on the involvement and support of our entire community.
Thank you for your continued support of Memorial Hall and our Veterans. We look forward to working together to honor the past, celebrate the present, and build a lasting legacy for future generations.
In continued service to God and Country,
Ted Balbierz
