๐จ Arrest Update โ Residential Burglary Investigation
Following an extensive investigation conducted by the Kenilworth Detective Bureau, with assistance from the Union County Prosecutorโs Office and the Newark Police Division Gang Intelligence Unit, two individuals were charged in connection with a residential burglary that occurred on December 31, 2025, in the 600 block of Fairfield Avenue.
The investigation revealed that two suspects allegedly forced entry into the residence while the homeowners were out of the country and stole a substantial amount of cash and personal property before fleeing the area.
On February 19, 2026, Quamir Hodges was charged by Det. Robert Rueger with Home Invasion Burglary, Employing a Juvenile to Commit a Criminal Offense, Theft, Weapons Offenses, and Conspiracy to Commit Burglary. Hodges was later arrested by the New Jersey State Police on a Kenilworth Police Department warrant and remanded to the Essex County Jail pending trial.
On February 26, 2026, a 16-year-old juvenile male from Newark was also charged with Home Invasion Burglary, Theft, Weapons Offenses, and Conspiracy to Commit Burglary in connection with the investigation.

Ptl. Riccelli and Ptl. Cascarano conducted a motor vehicle stop on a white Ford C-Max in the area of 505 North Michigan Avenue containing three occupants. Subsequent to their investigation, the driver of the vehicle, Ryan Billups of Tabernacle, NJ, was arrested and charged with one count each of Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Prohibited Devices โ Extended Magazine, Defaced Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm by a Minor.
Mr. Billups was processed and remanded to the Union County Jail pending an appearance in Superior Court.
The two rear passengers, both identified as juveniles, were each charged with Unlawful Possession of a Handgun, Prohibited Devices โ Extended Magazine, Defaced Firearm, and Possession of a Firearm by a Minor. Both juveniles were transported to the Essex County Juvenile Detention Center pending appearances in Superior Court.

Kenilworth Police Officers responded to the 800 block of West Colfax Avenue on a report of a verbal dispute between two truck drivers. During the incident, one of the individuals allegedly brandished a handgun.
Following an investigation, Kenneth Weimer of Morris, Illinois, was arrested and charged with Possession of a Handgun and Prohibited Weapons and Devices. Mr. Weimer was processed and remanded to the Union County Jail pending an appearance in Superior Court.

Kenilworth Police Officers served a Temporary Restraining Order during which multiple weapons were seized pursuant to the court order.

Kenilworth Police Officers responded to the 600 block of Kingston Avenue on a report of a domestic dispute. One arrest was made in accordance with New Jersey law.

A Kenilworth resident reported being the victim of fraud after a check was allegedly altered and fraudulently cashed. The incident has been documented and remains under investigation.
